Emily’s friends’ parents mostly stayed instead of just dropping them off for the party, and one by one, the crowd of our family and friends disperses until it’s just the six of us. Our girls are all asleep in the theater room—a common occurrence—so before we start the process of carrying them all to bed, I pull my wife onto our covered deck. With a few clicks of the app on my phone, Savannah smiles as I play the same song she walked down the aisle to.

“Why Theo Smith-Harrington, are you trying to woo your wife?” she says as she accepts my open hand and I spin her toward me.

“Without question. I am always trying to woo my wife, Mrs. Smith-Harrington.”

“Hmm. I’m pretty sure you already know you’re getting lucky tonight, sir.” The little minx winks at me.

“That statement is misleading.” I spin her out and back to me before placing a gentle kiss on her forehand. “I cannot get lucky when I’m already the luckiest man on earth. One cannot attain what he already has, so I cannot get lucky.”

“Oh really? And why is that?” She smiles, loving this little dance of ours. We sway together under the soft glow from the bistro lights strung from the rafters.

“It’s simple really—because you’re mine.”

“Damn straight I am.”

“And…” I dip her back and lean in for a kiss. “I’m keeping you forever.”

She closes the distance and kisses me deeply before I stand us back up, and she pulls back to rest her forehead against mine. “Sounds like a wonderful plan to me.”
