“Mine, Yilan. You belong to no one butme!”

Then I grabbed for her thigh, pulling her knee higher as I pulled out of her again, then plunged back in with such force if I hadn’t been wearing leathers, our skins would have slapped.

She gasped and I took her mouth, tangling our tongues and swallowing the rush of air from her lungs as she fought to remain silent while her body detonated in pleasure. And when she braced her shoulders against the wall, her back arching and her jaw wide, as she clenched around me and her eyes rolled back, I came like I’d been thrown off a cliff.

Both of us writhing, silent, fighting not to be discovered, just feet from the man who would steal her from me givenhalfa chance to do so. The beast within me roared, and the bond sang with it as she clung to me, trembling, weeping silently, our bodies shuddering.

And then we slumped.

Shivers and shakes danced up and down my spine. Yilan was trembling in my arms. Our bodies still pulsed and throbbed.

We both breathed open mouthed, fighting to keep our heaving pants silent.

Suddenly I could hear again—a series of scratches and another curse from inside the room, then the crinkle of paper. As I dropped my sweaty forehead against Yilan’s, bootsteps clipped towards the door.

Warm light eased out of the door onto the balcony, along with a deep voice in the echoing hallway beyond, then the door clicked closed and the darkness returned.

“Holy shit…holy shit!”

I raised my head to stare down at my mate, still trembling in my arms. Her eyes were wide and her chin a little shaky.

Then she blinked and her eyes narrowed. “What the fuck, Melek!” she hissed, slapping my chest. “What theactual fuck was that!?”

She shoved me off of her, forcing me to pull out and let her down as she continued to slap at my chest and curse me.

“We shouldn’t… that wasn’t…I can’t believe you did that!”she whisper screamed, grasping at her clothes which were torn and twisted around her beautiful body, the leather straps falling off, leaving her half-naked and draped in the ragged tears of that thin, half-sheer fabric.

I wanted her again.

“Melek!” she hissed, planting both fists on her hips. “Don’t look at me like that—if he’d had the presence of mind to sense us, you could have caused a fuckingwar!”

“You’re exaggerating,” he muttered, his jaw flexing.

I glared. “I am not a dog in heat—what if I’d lost my grip and he’d caught us!”

Melek loomed over me, his eyes dark and feverish. “He might have learned a thing or two?”

“Melek!” I hissed, furious and flustered at the same time.

“If I hadn’t been here, that man would have taken you in aheartbeat.”

“Don’t be ridiculous, he would neverforceme—”

“He came into your bedchamber uninvited!”

“He was worried about me, because I fled!”

Melek growled, shaking his head, his eyes darting past me. His expression went dark and he strode past me into the room.

“Melek!”

“Do not judge me for wanting to claim you,” he growled as he prowled the room like he was looking for an intruder. “I know men. I know what they’ll do when angry, or given a chance by a female they want. I will not see you harmed by a jealous rival.”

I wanted to throttle him. “Melek, you know the men ofyourpeople, not mine! As much as you want to be seen, perhaps you need to open your eyes andlook.Turo is just as honorable as you, but he’s been put in a horrible situation that was not of his making—”
