Yilan snorted with laughter, but her wide smile only made my need roar again, and I took that full mouth as I lifted her, then threw her onto the bed. She bounced once, eyes wide, but smiling as she pushed herself back up the bed to the pillows and I crawled up after her.

“Yilan,” I said placing one hand on her ankle and sliding the hand up her leg.

“Yes?”

“This mission… this plan… it isn’t a game,” I said, my voice low and gruff.

“I know.”

“I don’t think you do—I can feel you in the bond. You’rethrilled.”

“I’m excited to win. I’m excited to be with you. I’m looking forward to showing the world who you are, Melek—and what we can do together.”

She was being honest. The bond crackled with excitement. There were images in my mind that she’d put there—both of us standing together, hands clasped, celebrating victory. A sweeping image of the continent—people in every land and nation at peace. And us, alone at night, sleeping peacefully, wrapped in each other’s arms.

It was a picture—a life—I would give my left testicle to gain.

And impossible.

“This will take months, Yilan.Years.Even if I can take the Nephilim crown, there is a cancer in my people… You will never be far from danger while we’re with them.”

“I know you’ll protect me,” she whispered, curling up to grab for my shoulders, to move me faster because I was only sliding up her body slowly, letting my fingers trail up the back of her beautiful leg. But I resisted, holding her bright eyes, insisting that she settle. That she focus. That she be fully here withme.

“I will,” I vowed, and I meant it. “I would die for you.” I leaned down to kiss her belly just below her navel, dipping my tongue in that little divot, smiling when she shivered.

“I know. As I would, for you. But we’re not going to die, Melek. We’re going towin.”

She grabbed my face and pulled my chin up, forcing me to meet her eyes again and trying to urge me closer. But I wasn’t going to be rushed. That clock ticking over my head told me that our hours alone were rapidly reducing. I needed to make the most of this.

With a low growl, I took one of her hands and pinned it on the pillow over her shoulder, then did the same with the other, inching up her body, arching my back to brace myself over her, but most of my body still between her legs, too low to bring my arousal against her.

When she made an irritated noise, I smiled, then dropped my head and took one of her nipples in my mouth, laving it with my tongue, flicking and sucking until her hips twitched as she fought to get closer.

Still keeping her wrists manacled, I pulled myself slowly up her body, kissing, teasing, sucking, until my hardness drew against her swollen, slick flesh and she stopped breathing, waiting for me to enter her.

But now I had her. I loomed over her, holding her helpless, teasing her flesh with mine… and then I stopped.

She opened her eyes. “What are you—?”

I dove for that sharp tongue, sucking it into my mouth, giving her mine, letting my cock press and slide and my tongue mirror the promise of it, but still arched up and over her, not letting any other part of my body press her.

“Melek, what are you doing?” she gasped a few moments later, her hips rocking to reach for me, her back arching to try and press her belly against mine.

“Patience, Beautiful.”

“But—”

I took her mouth again and continued my teasing until she was whimpering, then I drew my knees up so I was on all fours and still keeping her wrists pinned at either side of her head. When I lifted out of the kiss, her eyes opened and there wereflamesin them.

“Melek,” she said breathlessly. “I love a good tease, but—”

“Stay with me,” I said, holding her gaze. “I need you close. I need youfeeling. This isn’t thrilling for me. This is frightening. Please… be here with me.”

She blinked and her brows rose a touch. I saw the shadows flicker in her gaze—fighting her instincts as she sought to meet me in mine.

She swallowed once, then nodded. “I’m here. I hear you. Let go of my hands.”

When I released her I kept my hands braced on the pillows behind her, searching her eyes and waiting to see what she’d do.
