He was making up for lost time.

Chapter 7:

Lake felt a strange buzzing sensation, almost like a mixture of anticipation and nerves. It had him speeding down the wet streets as soon as he was able to escape the High Council and their incessant questioning. Lights glittered around him as he drove, reflecting off the water in every direction, but he hardly noticed, too focused on getting home.

On getting to Nix.

The house was oddly quiet when he finally got there, and he listened closely as he moved into the living room and then the kitchen. The lights had been left on, so why—

A sound from outside, just barely made out over the pounding of the rain, caught his attention, and Lake moved toward the sliding glass door leading out onto the porch. It wasonly open a crack, but the closer he got, the louder and more obvious the noises became.

What he saw had his balls tightening instantly.

Yejun had Nix on all fours, cock driving in and out of his ass with enough force it sent his knees sliding against the rain-slicked wooden flooring. He was whispering something to Nix, his mouth close to his ear, the words spoken too low for Lake to make out from this distance through the storm.

Whatever he was saying though, it caused Nix to cry out and arch, lifting his ass higher for Yejun’s next wild thrust. He lost strength in his arms and tumbled forward, cheek slapping against the planks, and Yejun left him there, too focused on rutting to bother righting him.

Neither seemed to care that they were getting drenched, too busy mindlessly fucking. Lake considered calling them inside before one or both of them got themselves sick, but hesitated.

Maybe this was what Nix needed. Something chaotic and a little bit crazy and daring. Something to help wipe away the stain that’d been left behind when Lake and Yejun had abused him on the coffee table.

The one that was thankfully gone.

Leaving them to it, Lake quietly made his way to the fridge and grabbed a beer before heading out of the kitchen. He turned the corner and came to a halt with a start when he caught flashing eyes in the darkness peering down at him.

“What are you doing?”he asked.

West was seated on the landing, legs spread, arms resting on each knee. He waited for Lake to ascend and get closer before replying in a low tone, “I’m making sure Nix’s cousin doesn’t walk in on something he shouldn’t. What are you doing?”

It was the judgmental attitude that clued Lake into what he really meant, but he chose to walk by him without answering.

Of course, West wasn’t satisfied with the snub, instantly pushing to his feet and abandoning his post at the top of the stairs.

“Thought you said you were on guard duty?” Lake drawled, heading down the hallway.

The Roost was intricate and detailed, made of wood, metal, and glass. It was masculine and show-offy in subtle ways, clearly stating money despite its carved nooks and crannies.

But it was no palace.

Nix liked the Roost…Would he like living at the palace as much? There wasn’t nearly as much privacy there…

“It’ll be fine,” West shrugged, slipping his hands into his pockets as he trailed slightly behind.

“Not concerned Yejun will kill Briant in a rage if he stumbles on Nix naked?”

West grunted. “I’m honestly more surprised you didn’t jump in. If anyone is jealous and possessive here, your future Majesty, it’s you.”

Lake couldn’t argue there. He didn’t want to share Nix—any part of him—with anyone other than his two best friends. And even then, the thought of Yejun down there, enjoying Nix’s company and his body, without Lake drove him half insane.

“They need this,” Lake said, though even he didn’t know which of them the words were actually for. “They need to reconnect.”

He wanted them to.

But still.

“Just admit it,” West laughed at him, “you want to turn around and join in so badly.”

“Like you don’t?” They passed his bedroom door.
