Kai nods. “He broke Hawk’s trust. After the trauma Hawk went through with Mel, it’s all taking a toll on him—on all of us.”
He pulls me into his chest, wrapping his large arms around me in a way that makes me feel so small and secure in his embrace. Safe. Protected. Cared for.
“You’re right,” I groan into his brick-wall pecs. “We all need a vacation.”
“Now there’s an idea. However, until we can all find the time to take a few days off, I have some ideas of how to keepyoufrom stressing.”
I smirk coyly as I take a step backward, moving closer to the bed. “Is that so? And what might thesemethodsof yours be?”
He stalks across the room as he pulls his t-shirt over his head. “For starters, they involve both of us wearing less clothes.”
I kick off my shoes. “Like this?”
He smirks. “More naked.”
“This?” I question as I peel off my top.
He shakes his head as he removes his boots and strips out of his jeans. My mouth goes dry as I drink in the Adonis before me, dressed in a pair of form-fitting black boxers that leavenothingto the imagination.
“Allof your clothes, Emilia,” Kai says in a lust-dripping tone that has me clenching my thighs together. “Now.”
You don’t need to tell me twice.
As fast as my fingers will allow, I unbutton my jeans and shove them down my legs, along with my soaked panties, then unhook my bra and toss it aside.
“You’re so beautiful, Blackbird,” Kai murmurs in awe as he closes the remaining distance between us.
His hand slides into my hair, tilting my head and holding it still as his lips descend on mine. His hold is possessive but not controlling in the way Hawk’s is. Kai remains true to his word, chasing away all of my worries and concerns as he pushes me down onto the mattress and covers my body with his larger, muscular one. His hands cup the side of my face, his fingers brushing through my hair.
“I’m going to spend the rest of my days showing you just how much you mean to me, how grateful I am to have you in my life.”
“I’m the lucky one,” I tell him in return. “You pulled me out of my dull life and offered me one I could only dream of. You gave me the opportunity to fix what I broke with Wilder and Hawk, and honestly, that’s something I can never repay you for.”
Lips touching, our tongues tangle in a slow, sweet kiss.
“You repay me every day by simply being by my side, by allowing me to be a part of your life and letting me see you like this—so beautiful and wanting, just for me.”
He drives home his point with a thrust of his hips, and all softness falls by the wayside as molten hot pleasure crashes over us. My entire body comes alive as he begins to move, responding to every thrust as though it could be my last. My body breaks apart and re-forms as pleasure races along my nerves, setting fire to my soul.
