How we get Aurora back.

Royce and Logan were defeated when they got home last night, but we can’t just give up. Riley won’t give up, so neither will I. She’s out there somewhere, and I will do whatever it takes to get her back. To ensure her safety.

I don’t need to have ever met Aurora to know she’s family. My half-sister. Riley’s daughter. She’s blood, but she’s also more than that. She’s everything to the woman who is my obsession, which means no one is safe from my wrath.

Getting to my feet, I stretch out the kinks from having slept on the sofa instead of a bed, but we all wanted to be close to Riley last night, and she was too fragile to move.

The doorbell rings, and I glower in the direction of the door before snapping my attention to Riley, breathing out a breath when she doesn’t wake.

Logan does though, eyes red-rimmed and glare severe. “Whoever the fuck that is, get rid of them.”

“On it.”

Exiting the living room, I pull the door shut behind me before opening the front door. A man stands on my front stoop, his back to me, so all I can see is his expensive-looking black suit and freshly polished dress shoes. Except, I recognize the set of those shoulders and pepper-colored hair.

Sure enough, the man turns around to face me, a wide smile stretching across his face, and everything inside me constricts.

“Son.” His gaze runs over me before returning to my face. “Good to see you.”

“Dad,” I croak, glancing up and down the otherwise empty street. “What are you doing here? You’re not meant to get out for another two months.”

He waves a dismissive hand. “Nothing a few greased hands couldn’t expedite.”

Head spinning, I consciously pull the door closed as far as I can, preventing him from seeing inside the house. He notices the move, his eyes flashing with displeasure.

“I just got released from prison, Grayson. The least you could do is invite me inside. It’s time the entire family was back together.”
