Sadie was pissed off at the duckling too, but still… “You didn’t kill him, did you?”

Xane endeavored to look hurt at the accusation. “Of course not. I knew you would disapprove of such an action, no matter how justified it would’ve been.”

Sadie arched a brow, waiting.

“Last I saw, Lord C’don and his heir were alive and well.” Xane assured her. “There is no need to fret over their fate.”

“You could’ve taken them with us when we left.”

“I could have. …But I didn’t want to.”

Sadie supposed that was fair enough. “Well, once Lord C’don gets a power crystal thingy, he can repair my spaceship. He and Jynn will escape on their own. This will be a good lesson for them.”

“Exactly. A few decades of hard work and they’ll be fine.” Xane dropped her onto his bed. “Corono will be a much more habitable planet, now that Vice-Corporal Siganthum-Rycen Lonel Lonel is dead. If you wish, I can have Hathgarr send men there and enforce any orders you desire. No more slave market. No more blue salt mine. Nightly tavern singing for all. The planet is yours to command, wife.”

All of those ideas sounded pretty good, actually. She wanted to make Corono better for the people who didn’t have handsome aliens to whisk them away. Without that damn octopus to oppress everyone…

Hang on.

Her head tilted. “Vice-Corporal Creepy Guy isdead?”

“Yes.”

“What happened to him?”

Xane loomed over the bed, looking down at her with intense turquoise eyes. “Exactly what happens to all men who threaten my wife.”

Sadie beamed. “Did you kill that asshole for me, babe? Youdid, didn’t you?” She clasped a hand to her heart. “Oh my God, that is so sweet!” She shifted herself up the mattress to make room for him. “You’re for sure getting lucky tonight.”

“This means sex?”

“This meansso muchsex. We’re moving on to the advanced class of my lessons.”

“Good. Show me what you desire.”

“I desire you.” Sadie told him honestly.

He gave her a slow smile and started unfastening his pants. “You have me. What else? I have seen illustrations of how to mate with non-robot women, but they weren’t drawn with human anatomy in mind. The scale of you is,” he held up two of his fingers to represent a very small gap, “tiny. We must proceed slowly and with caution.”

“Uh-huh.” That totally wasn’t going to happen. She watched with deep interest as he undressed. Every time she saw his naked chest, her breath caught. “You have the most incredible body. I’ve been lusting after you since we met.”

He blinked. “You have?”

“Of course! Can you blame me? You’re all muscles andbigness.” She fluttered her eyelashes at him. “I like that in my man.”

His smile grew wider. “Your man.” He agreed.

“I don’t want you to think I’m shallow or anything. I’d totally be married to you, even if you were one of those weird mailbox aliens. But--my lord-- am I happy you look like you.” She stared up at him. “I don’t know a lot about your customs or preferences or anything. Do you have any places you don’t like to be touched?”

He climbed onto the huge bed, snagging one of her ankles to pull her towards him. “My body belongs to you. Do whatever you want with it.”

“Really?”

“Touch meeverywhere, wife.”

Sadie didn’t have to be told twice. She scrambled into a sitting position so she could run her hands over his shoulders. Her finger squeezed his massive biceps, barely making a dent. His arm was thicker than her thigh.

“Wow.”She whispered.
