“I guess you have a point. Thank you for everything. I don’t know what I would do without you.”

“I got you, baby. You never have to doubt that.”

For so many years, I settled for what I thought was good enough. Now, I had a man in my life who pushed me to pursue my dreams. Soul never ceased to amaze me, and I honestly felt like he was sent to me.

I ashedthe rest of my blunt before stepping into the warehouse. I’d never understand why mothafuckas always wanted to show their ass when it was time for me to go home. A nigga was dead ass tired and not in the mood to take a life tonight. However, duty called, so I had to do what needed to be done.

“You want us to bring them in here?” One of my young bulls, Mace, asked the moment I stepped into the room.

“Yeah. Chain his ass up.” I huffed. I should have been at home smoking a fat blunt, but instead I had to be here to deal with another shady mothafucka. Pure loved to call me a hothead, but he was too trusting in my opinion. I told him there was something off about that mothafucka after we killed his rat ass homeboy. I wanted to kill his ass right along with that sorry assmothafucka, but since we had no evidence that he was in on it, Pure told me to chill. This was what happened when I didn’t listen to my first mind. It was the reason I started trailing him, because I knew it would only be a matter of time before he slipped up.

Walking over to him, I smirked as tears streamed down his face. For some reason, I could never understand this response. Why did people cry after they were caught, as if they weren’t guilty? If you’re gonna do some grimy shit, then you should be able to stand on your choices. Crying was a cowardly response. If I took some shit from someone or killed a mothafucka, I gotta own my shit. Even if I got caught slipping, I would smile on my way to my death. Fuck those tears.

“Where is my mothafuckin’ money? Huh?” I asked in a calm tone. As much as I would have rather been knee deep in some pussy, I wouldn’t pretend this part of my life didn’t give me an adrenaline rush. It might have been dark and twisted to some, but when you’ve been through the shit I have, control means everything.

“I’m s-sorry. Please don’t kill me.” Nigel sniveled.

I scoffed. “You really thought you were gonna get away with trying to bite the hand that feeds you? Huh?”

“You don’t understand! I wasn’t trying to betray you, but shit started getting tough for my family, so I did what I had to do.” I squinted my eyes as he spewed a whole bunch of bullshit.

“We don’t pay you enough around here? Is that what you’re saying?” Snot dripped down his nose as he panted wildly. I wanted to laugh, but now wasn’t the time.

“Huncho, you hurting for bread? What about you, Mace? Are you living paycheck to paycheck on our team?” I asked them.

“Hell naw, boss. I just copped me and my bitch a new rollie and dropped ten racks on my baby girl. I ain’t hurting for shit,” Huncho replied.

“Not at all, boss. My money is so long that I had to open another bank account. I’m about to buy my momma a house for her birthday and everything. We’re living good around this way.” I nodded as Mace spoke. This nigga had a lot of nerve to come up with a bullshit ass excuse like this one. He must have thought I was a dummy because I made sure everybody on my team ate. There was no such thing as a broke nigga in the Taylor Gang.

“You hear that? Everybody over here is eating, so that stuff you’re talking about doesn’t make any sense to me. You’re trying to play with my intelligence, and if you knew anything about me, you would know that isn’t a wise decision. Now, I’m going to ask you again. What made you think it was a smart idea to take my bread?” Bro was shaking so hard I was starting to think he might be having withdrawals.

“I-I don’t know. I guess I felt like it was my payback since you killed my homie. My girl was really hurt by the shit because he was her cousin. We ain’t think you would miss the money to be honest.”

“You sound like the pussy ass nigga I always thought you were. How the hell do you have one-sided loyalty to a dead nigga? And then you choose to steal from the person who killed your partner. What did you think was gonna happen? Huh? Surely, you can’t be that fucking dumb. Then again, you might be. Because you thought your girl was his cousin this whole time when they were fucking behind your back.”

Nigel’s eyes widened in surprise. “W-What are you talking about?” he stuttered, shaking his head in disbelief.

“Oh, did you really think they were blood?” I chuckled as I stepped over to grab my bag. Once I found what I was looking for, I walked back over to him.

“I love my cousins more than anything, but I’ve never tongued my cousin down like this.” I held up the photos from my PI. I was naturally paranoid, so as soon as I got a bad feelingabout something, I jumped right into action. While I wasn’t expecting to uncover this information, it made this moment even funnier. Nigel went so hard behind his homie only for him to be his biggest opps.

“No. No, that’s not real. It can’t be!” More tears raced down his face, and I could no longer hold in my laughter. Ain’t no way I would go out like this.

“Yo, this is funny as hell. You know what? You’re right. You shouldn’t take my word for it. Why don’t we ask the bitch herself?” I gestured for Mace to bring his woman over to us. They were both going to die regardless, but I would at least let him go on to glory knowing the truth.

“Ouch! You don’t have to be so rough!” She jerked in Mace’s arms.

“Man, shut up. You’ve been begging to suck my dick since we picked you up, and now you want to act all sensitive.”

“Aye, we ain’t here for all of that. Come over here and tell this man how you’ve been letting his day one fill you like a Twinkie.” I pushed her in front of him.

“How is this even possible? You said he was your cousin. I’ve been at his family’s house with you and everything. Were you fucking him the whole time?” he whined, pissing me off. I can’t believe I had such a lame ass simp on my team.

“I’m sorry, baby. Our families were close, so they considered each other family. No one knew we used to mess around, and we preferred to keep it a secret. I never meant to hurt you, Nigel, I swear. We started messing around after I found out you were still fucking your baby momma, Tahj,” she admitted. I felt like I was watching a reality show or some shit.

“Who the hell told you that shit? I haven’t touched that bitch in years,” Nigel roared as the wheels in his head started spinning.

“Andre told me that he took you over there a couple of times. He said you asked him not to tell me. I-I thought you were cheating on me first.”
