“You’re silly as hell, Juicy. Let me find out you like your niggas crazy.”

“I had the biggest crush on the Joker when I was younger. He was so misunderstood,” I replied with a shrug.

“Man, get out of here with all that. I’d better be the only man you’re crushing on from now on.”

“Whatever you say, big daddy Soul.” We both laughed, and it shifted the energy in the room. I loved this man with every fiber of my being, and knowing he loved me the same made me feel so special.

Soul gripped the back of my head, pulling me into a kiss. His lips were so soft and juicy. He hated it when I pointed it out, but I didn’t care. It was one of my favorite features on him. I moaned as the kiss grew deeper and more intense. Before I knew it, we were naked as I rode him until we were completely spent. I fell asleep with my head on his chest, and he was still planted inside of me. These were the moments I lived for, and I prayed we would always be this way.

“Hello?”I rolled over to the sound of my phone ringing. Normally, I would have already been up at five a.m., but my Juicy baby was riding my dick all night. It seemed like I couldn’t get enough of her, even if I tried. Since she moved in with me, we were fucking two or three times a day, so I’ve been sleeping in more than usual.

“Aye, he’s up,” Pure informed me.

“How long has he been awake?” I moved my other arm from under Juicy and sat on the edge of the bed. This wasn’t the news I expected, but it was what I needed. We hadn’t been able to get any real leads on who robbed him, so we needed him to tell us who he was messing with. The sooner we dealt with those bold mothafuckas, the sooner we could get back to business.

“He woke up a few minutes ago. They are checking his vitals right now. I’m sure the police will be informed of his condition, so we needed to get a handle on this before they start sticking their nose in our business.”

“All right, bet. I’m on my way. Let me know if he says anything important before I get there.”

“Fasho.” Pure disconnected the call as I got up to head to my closet. I was gonna throw on something simple so I could roll up to this hospital. My trigger finger was desperate for a new target, so I prayed we were able to get the information we needed. Salvador called last week to see if there were any new developments and it pissed me off. On the business side, this situation made us appear to be weak. No way should the culprits still be breathing after coming for one of our own. People would start to think we were soft, and the Taylor Gang was far from weak. It was time to toe-tag a mothafucka.

“Where are you going, baby?” Juicy groaned as she stretched in the bed. The sheet covering her body slipped and almost made me forget what I was supposed to be doing.

“I have somewhere I need to be.” I kept it short as I slid on my black Versace jeans. I decided to throw on a simple long-sleeved top since the weather had been up and down lately.

“Where are you going? I thought your meeting wasn’t until this evening.” I cursed under my breath for even giving her so much information. As much as I loved Neeya, there were some things she didn’t need to know about me. We joked about me being a certified killer, but she had no idea how deadly I truly was. I wanted to keep it that way because if she really knew the depths of my darkness, she would be ready to run for the hills.

“Pure called me. We have some business we need to take care of. I shouldn’t be gone too long. Once I finish my business, we can go out on a date or something.” I tried to soften the blow with a peace offering, but she seemed suspicious.

“You’re hiding something from me. I’m not sure what it is, but for your sake, I hope it’s something simple.” Neeya huffed, tossing the sheet onto the floor before heading to the bathroom. Her anger became evident as she moved through the room. When I saw her sliding into a pair of leggings, I began to question her.

“Where are you going?”

“I have somewhere I need to be,” she spat, using my words against me.

“Don’t be like that, Juicy. I’m not leaving you out of anything. However, when it comes to my business, I prefer to keep it separate from my personal life. I don’t want you to be worried and stressed about what I’m doing because those two worlds should never cross.”

“I don’t need to know the ins and outs of your organization, but when you hop out of bed in the wee hours of the morning, of course I’m gonna have questions. I can tell by your demeanor that it’s more than business, but you don’t want to tell me what’s going on.” This was one of the reasons I avoided relationships.

Women were too emotional, and they couldn’t accept that there were things in our lives we weren’t at liberty to share.

“Aye, I’m not about to sit here and argue with you about some bullshit. Do you honestly believe I would get out of my comfortable bed with my fine ass woman just to be on some bullshit at six in the fucking morning? Come on, Juicy. You have more sense than that.” Her face softened, but I could tell this conversation was far from over.

“You’re still deflecting. I know what I saw.”

“Okay, and what are you gonna do about it? ’Cause this conversation is pointless. If you don’t trust me by now after I’ve given you access to damn near every part of my life, then I don’t know what you want from me. Now, I have somewhere to be. If you’re leaving, that’s cool. All I ask is that you lock up beforeyou go.” My family came before anything and everything, and I wasn’t about to explain myself to anyone.

“So that’s it. You’re just gonna dismiss my feelings like they don’t matter?”

“What do you want from me? You have my location, the keys to my house, cars, and you have my bank card. What are we even arguing about?” I shrugged as I put my watch on. I slid my black and white sneakers on and grabbed my keys off the dresser. I wish I had time to smoke because I needed something to take the edge off. Neeya stormed off to the bathroom, and I let her go. She needed a moment to get her emotions in check, and I needed the same.

Since we’ve been together, we rarely argued. I tried to create a space where my baby felt comfortable expressing herself. However, I might have made her too comfortable because now she felt like I needed to explain my every move, and that wasn’t gonna happen. Once I made sure I had everything, I walked toward the bathroom. Neeya and I were a lot alike when it came to how we expressed our emotions, so I wasn’t surprised when I walked into the bathroom and saw her glaring at me. I walked over, wrapping my arms around her as we looked at our reflection in the mirror.

“I’m about to head out,” Neeya informed me with a roll of her eyes. I nodded, knowing her spoiled ass wasn’t going to let this go.

“I’ll see you later, right?” I pressed.

“I don’t know. I might be busy.” She shrugged, and I almost cussed her ass out. However, I was trying to turn over a new leaf.
