“Tell him I’ll hit him up when I finish.” I walked over to the table where we kept our weapons of choice. While I would normally opt to torture, I decided to make this easy on myself and her. There was no need to drag this out.
“I’m gonna give you one last chance to tell me what I want to know. You can make this easy, or we can do it the hard way.” My head whipped around when I heard the loud sounds of scratching and barking at my door. It took me by surprise because my dogs weren’t loud, and they knew when to stay in their room, yet they were outside of the door banging into it as if the house was on fire.
“What do you want me to say? You obviously have it made up in your mind that I’ve sinned against you, so why ask questions now?” The stoic expression on her face sent me over the edge. Usually when I had my victims in this position they would be crying and begging for their lives. It almost made me proud tosee how solid and fearless she was. My baby had heart. It was such a shame she would have to lose her life for being a thief.
“Do you think this is a game? You think I’m doing this shit for fun?”
“No, I don’t. However, it doesn’t change anything. You’ve got me chained up like some kind of animal without so much as a conversation. You and I both know there’s no coming back from this for either of us, so you might as well get it over with.” There was anger in her voice mixed with hurt, but her face remained unfazed.
“You’ve got a lot of nerve, Juicy baby. You played in my face this whole time. I’ve never been the type to be manipulated by pussy, but you got me good. Had a nigga at the jeweler ready to get down on one knee and you were plotting against me the whole time. I gotta give credit where it’s due because you made a believer out of me.” I chuckled angrily.
“How long did it take you to come up with this elaborate theory of yours? You should really think about being an author because the way you pulled that story out of your ass is impressive.” I got ready to respond, but the sound of banging interrupted me. When I stood up, my doors were being pushed open. I lifted my gun to shoot the intruder, only for my dogs to come rushing into the room. Rosco and Apollo came barreling past me right over to her.
Huncho and I stood there stunned as they licked and nudged her as if she was hurt. They had never behaved like this, and I was confused as to how to react.
I shouted every command I could think of, but neither of them budged. They knew I wouldn’t kill them, but this was their first time testing that theory.
“Aye, everybody is calling my phone. Tycen, Duke, and Murk are blowing our phones up. I think we need to take a step back from this and see what’s going on.” Reluctantly, I took my phonefrom Huncho and Murk’s number flashed across my screen again.
“What’s going on? You’ve been blowing my shit up like the world is on fire.”
“Where is she? And please tell me you don’t hurt her, because you’re gonna regret that shit,” he rushed out.
“Oh, yeah? I’m more curious to know how you’re involved in all of this.”
“You know me better than that. The only reason I’m on your line is because my wife was hysterical and she showed me some shit I thought you needed to know about.” I could hear another voice in the background and assumed it was Puma.
“Make it quick. I’m already in a fucked up mood and any more bad news will only make things worse.”
“Check your phone.” I received an alert at the same time he spoke, and when I opened the image, I almost passed out.
“You’ve got to be fucking with me.”
“There’s a lot of shit going on, and I think you need to sit on this for a while longer before you do some shit you can’t come back from.”
It was a little too late for that, but his points were valid. I hung up the phone then turned back to look at Juicy. Apollo and Rosco were still trying to figure out a way to set her free while I stood there in disbelief. Someone had to be out to get me because there was no way my life was blowing up in my face like this by accident. I went to my messages again to take one more look at the picture before handing it over to Huncho. Once he saw it, he and Ammo made their way over to free Juicy. I had no words. All I knew was that I had fucked up majorly, and there was no coming back from this. I wasn’t even sure if I was supposed to feel relieved or not because everything was hitting me all at once. All I knew was that I had almost killed the mother of my unborn child and she would probably never forgive me.
Four MonthsLater
“What are you doing here?”
“I can’t come visit?” Darion asked with his usual handsome grin on his face.
“Well, I don’t recall giving you permission to show up at my house unannounced.” I stood in the doorway with my hands on my hips and my face turned up.
“If you want me to go I can, but I brought you food.” Darion held up the to-go bag from The Pancake Palace. My fat ass immediately began to drool at the thought of eating some good food.
“Fine, you can come in, but only because you brought some food. I haven’t eaten yet.” As I stepped aside to let him in, Inoticed a car that seemed out of place creeping down the street. The windows were tinted so I wasn’t able to see who was in the car. Hurriedly, I closed my door and headed inside. I’d only been in this neighborhood for a few months and while it seemed safe, I wasn’t trying to test my luck.
“I said you could come in. You seem a little too comfortable in my house right now.” I observed as Darrion moved around my kitchen. You would have never known this was the first time he’d been here from the way he was moving.
“You used to be my wife. I think I should be comfortable here. Hell, this could have been half mine, if I hadn’t fucked up.” He laughed, but his words unlocked some core memories from our childhood. I recalled us getting married on the basketball court at school in fifth grade. There used to be a time in my life when I believed Darion and I would be together forever, but as quickly as those thoughts popped into my mind, they were gone.
“What did you bring me?” I searched through the bags, inhaling the intoxicating scent.
“I got some cinnamon roll pancakes for me and some strawberry cheesecake one’s for you. I know how much you love strawberries.” I tried to hide the smile on my face, but he got a brownie point for that. Dee always paid attention to the small details about me. He used to make me believe I was special which meant a lot to me because of my relationship with Rochelle.
We both took a seat at the table, allowing the silence to surround us. The moment I bit into those pancakes, I wanted to scream. They were even better than I imagined they would be.
