Lola followed me in, taking tiny nervous steps.
There was a human at the counter, working on a computer. He looked up, blinking sleepily. "Can I help you?"
"We need two beds, please," I said.
The man glanced at the clock. Based on his expression, he was near the end of his shift, which meant he was tired and irritable. "Fine, that will be fifty dollars," he said.
"Martian dollars?" Lola peeped behind me.
Neither of us had money. We had nothing.
"Sorry, but we have nothing with us right now," I said, holding up my hand, where my identity chip was implanted. It was probably still connected to my bank account, but if I let the clerk scan it, it would give away our position. "I can pay before I leave. My chip should work by then."
The clerk gave me a look that told me he didn't believe a word I was saying. He shrugged. "Whatever, man," He waved us away. "Just make sure you pay when you leave." He grumbled something under his breath; something about the day shift's problem.
Lola let out a breath as we walked towards the tiny sleeping pods. "That was lucky," She said.
We walked down the dimly lit hall until we found sleeping pods 12A and 13A. They were side by side, but divided.
"Hostels aren't exactly romantic," I admitted. "But we can stay here and rest. Then we'll figure out how to get you back to Earth."
"You're still going to do that?" Lola asked, her blue eyes wide.
"Of course. I promised. A Hunter is only as good as his word."
I leaned down and kissed her. She tasted like sand, salt, and sweat, but I didn't care. My desires surged through me, begging to be inside her again. My cock stiffened as her tongue grazed against mine. I resisted, knowing that the wait would only make it better.
"Let's get some rest," I said.
Lola, disappointed but understanding, nodded.
I watched her climb into her pod and waited until the door was closed before settling into my own pod. I thought I would lay awake, but sleep came instantly.
***
This sleeping pod was too small.
When I awoke, I found myself gasping for breath and pushing against the ceiling wildly. They were meant for humans, not Terruxians, and the tight space was making me feel claustrophobic.
I kicked open the door and slid out of the pod. The sand on my clothes made a mess in the bedding. It was then I realized how dirty I was. Before I found a way to get Lola back to Earth, I was going to have to clean up.
I glanced at my reflection on the pod's glass door. I needed to disguise myself, too, before someone noticed me. The Mars colony was pretty multi-cultural, but humans made up the bulk of the citizens. Few aliens lived on Mars permanently.
I knocked on Lola's pod until she woke up.
She groaned as she opened the door.
"Sleep well?" I asked.
"Enough," She said. When she stretched, sand fell out of her shirt.
"Come on, let's go get cleaned up."
Thankfully, the hostel had a shower room and some towels for us to use. All the other patrons were long gone, seeing how it was about midday now.
The showers were a large tiled room with faucets and shower heads protruding from the ceiling. Only some of them worked, with various levels of water pressure. It was nothing like the state-of-the-art facilities on board the space station, but I didn't care.
Lola stripped down eagerly, heading to the nearest shower head and letting the warm water engulf her.
