I laid my head on his chest. His uniform was made of soft, crisp fabric, and I could feel the hardness of his body underneath.
"Is there anything I can do for you, Lola?" He asked.
The way he said my name made my chest tight. He knew the truth about me now. He had apologized for his mistake, and he wanted to make it up to me somehow. It seemed sort of ridiculous. What could you do to atone for literally kidnapping someone from their home planet?
"Holding me is a good start," I said softly.
Zeysor's grip tightened a little. It was different from when he was hauling me around as a prisoner. It made me feel safe instead of panicked.
We sat together in silence for a while. It should have felt awkward, but it just felt right in a way that I couldn't explain.
"Zeysor," I said after a while. "Do you know what the Commander is going to do to me?"
Zeysor's jaw clenched tightly.
His hesitation made my heart tremble.
"You can't go back to Earth," The alien Hunter said finally.
His words didn't register right away. Was I hearing his words correctly? Was the translation node malfunctioning? "What?" I said, before I fully understood what was happening. "What do you mean I can't go back to Earth?"
"The Commander broke the treaty when he asked me to abduct you, er, Greta. He can't let you go back now, because everyone will find out what happened," Zeysor explained.
My body shook uncontrollably.
"Lola," The alien began.
"No." I stood up and shuffled away from him. "Get out of here."
"Lola, I swear I'll try everything I can to help you," Zeysor said.
"Get out! Get out of this cell! I don't want to see you!" I screamed. Maybe if I screamed loud enough, someone else would hear and take him somewhere else. "Get lost! You ruined my life!"
I blinked away tears as I stared him down. Even with my heart breaking, I could not look away. His handsome features kept my eyes locked on him. He was the only thing I knew in this place, and I hated him for it.
"You ruined my life!" I spat, sniffling and wiping my face with the blanket. I choked on my own tears, too much of a blubbering mess to even speak.
"I know this is my fault, and that's why I'm going to try to convince the Commander to let you go," Zeysor was against the door now, his hands up, trying to calm me.
"Fuck off!" I snarled.
"If you don't calm down, it will be worse for you," Zeysor added. "The Commander wants to send you to a slave colony. The shuttle is coming to the station to resupply. It could be here in mere hours. We don't have much time."
My breath caught in my throat. A slave colony? I was going to a slave colony because of his mistake?
"Go," I said. I had no more strength left. I couldn't try anymore. My face was swollen and hot. My chest ached with each heaving breath.
"Lola," Zeysor tried again. He took a cautious step forward.
"Just go." I curled myself up into the corner. "And don't come back unless you're here to give me good news."
Zeysor let his hands fall to his side. He was silent for a moment and then reached for the door. The sliding door hissed open, and he turned. "I promise, I'll find a way to get you out of here," He said.
The door shut behind him with a click, leaving me in silent darkness.

There was no way to tell how long I'd been in the holding cell. No clock, no windows, nothing to note the passage of time.
