He nods. “Last night while you were out to dinner with Hazel. I’m guessing it went well?” He looks pointedly at the closed door.

I refuse to respond which makes him chuckle.

“Speaking of, I’ll go. Rest your voice for the day.”

I smile and give him the finger in response, which only makes him laugh harder as he leaves. As soon as the door closes behind him, I go back into the bedroom, content to drink my coffee and watch Hazel sleep. Instead I find her laying there scrolling on her phone.

“Good morning.” I set my coffee down and slide under the covers beside her. “How did you sleep?”

“Really well, surprisingly. I usually struggle.”

“Do you?” I wouldn’t have guessed that.

“Yep.” She sets the phone down. “Was that Darren?”

“Yeah, he had a few things he wanted me to hear.”

“The Rolling Stone article?”

I nod. “Did Sierra tell you?”

“She emailed me last night.”

“Are you excited?”

“You know,” she says as she scoots up in bed, tucking the sheets around her breasts, “I am actually. Maybe it’s because I’ll have you and the guys around, too. After what happened with O’Malley, I’m hesitant to do any press. I’ve never been so embarrassed.”

“He’s the only one who should be embarrassed. I’ve heard he’s a real asshole behind the scenes, too.”

“Really? He seems so nice on TV.”

“Just a facade.” I pull her closer. “But let’s not talk about other men when I have you naked in my bed.”

“Fair enough.” She gives me a shy smile.

“I’m glad we went out last night.”

“Me, too.” She drags her nails softly over my side leaving pebbled skin in their wake. “It was perfect.”

“A cheap diner was perfect?” My lip quirks.

“Yes. I loved it. Don’t get me wrong, I love a fancy dinner as much as the next person, but I’m always down for a low key night. I don’t need much to be happy.”

That’s one of the things that I’m so drawn to about her. How down to earth she is. Most of the women I’ve dated over the years want all the glitz and glam that comes with dating a rock star. Most of the time I just want to be normal, though. I want someone to go to the grocery store with or to walk around a museum.

I’m not cheap, I’m more than happy to spoil the woman I’m with, but knowing that she’s down for simple adventures is so damn appealing.

I pull her to me, slanting my lips over hers and immediately taste my mint toothpaste. She must have used the hotel spare while I was talking to Darren. I’ve never been so turned on by knowing someone just helped themselves to something of mine like that.

“How do you feel about morning sex?” I ask against her lips.

Instead of answering with words, she slips her hand under my shorts and shows me.

“You did what?”Sierra screeches into the phone. “Actually, you didwhois more appropriate in this situation. Regardless. Holy. Fucking. Shit.”
