“Nah, I’m gonna walk. Thanks, though.”

“No problem. I assume you don’t want me to tell Lach you were here?”

“That would be preferred.”

She nods. That’s one of the great things about Daisy. She knows when to keep things close. “Alright, have a good night, Declan.”

“Thanks, Daisy,” he says, raising his hand behind him as he walks out the door.

CHAPTER13

Declan

BARK! BARK! BARK!

Declan jogs through the house, reassuring Buckley as he goes. “Alright, Bucks. Good job!” Patting the big oaf’s head, he looks through the small side window, only to be met with Everest’s eager face on the other side.

“Let me in, jackass.”

“No. I don’t want any of your cookies.”

“But they’re delicious.”

“How delicious?” Declan asks.

“Magical. Like the best you’ve ever had.”

Declan laughs, flipping the lock on the door. “If you don’t have cookies, I’m going to be really disappointed.” He opens the door, and Everest’s stupid face greets him. Declan looks to Everest’s open arms and empty hands. Alas, no cookies. “Nope. No cookies. No entry.”

“How about I give you an IOU?”

He looks at his friend, arms outstretched as if waiting for a hug. The playful look on Everest’s face starts to falter as Declan makes him wait a bit too long, getting to where he questions if he should really be here. “Alright, fine. Come in. But I expect double cookies next time.”

Everest jumps in place and claps like an excited child, exclaiming, “Yay!” They laugh together, their deep voices carrying into the entryway and down the hall as Declan steps aside to let him in.

“Honestly, surprised to see you today. I figured you’d be sleeping all day after what I can only assume was a night without any rest.”

Despite not being able to see his face with his back to Everest while he makes coffee, he can feel the unbridled excitement emanating from his friend. The energy Everest has brought into the room is bursting with a saucy story of sexual escapades. As much as Declan could handle not having to hear all the sweaty details, he knows Everest is champing at the bit, eager to share. So he asks the one question he knows will set it all off. “How was it?”

Everest sucks in a deep breath, and then he’s like a burst damn. Details, mimicking positions, all the different places they finished throughout his house. It all comes flooding out.

“Seriously, you missed out on a wild ride, man,” Everest says, rounding out his story. “Becky was a phenom, and Lydia, well, I think she may be a goddess because I saw the fucking light man. I’ve never come so hard in my life.”

Rolling his eyes, Declan shifts positions on the sofa, which they moved to somewhere around when Everest recounted how Becky ate out Lydia while he fucked Becky in the kitchen.

“I wasn’t feeling it. But I’m glad it was a good time for you.”

“What’s gotten into you?”

“What do you mean?”

“Dec, Becky was a bombshell. You never turn down that kind of opportunity.”

Looking down at his hands, Declan repeats what he told Daisy. “I was tired, and Buckley needed me home.” He leans forward, picking up his coffee cup as Everest side-eyes him. Thankfully, Everest doesn’t push any further because Declan isn’t sure he will be able to form the right words to tell Everest that he went home alone because he couldn’t get the image of his best friend’s little sister out of his head. He doesn’t need to know that he was thinking about what Eliana would look like sitting on his lap the way Becky did, or how he pictured peeling her workout pants off her glorious ass painfully slow, teasing her sensitive flesh along the way. No, Everest definitely doesn’t need to know any of that.

Declan puts his cup back on the table, subtly readjusting himself in the process so as to hide the growing bulge in his pants. The last thing he needs is Everest noticing Declan’s raging hard-on while recounting a missed portion of the night’s threesome encounter.

As Everest drones on, Declan’s mind wanders back to Eliana. He makes necessary sounds of agreement when needed. Everest has always been overly open and his stories are full of embellishment, which is fine as Declan’s used to it now. He’s happy Everest trusts him enough to share so openly, and that their relationship allows for this. There’s this weird idea that guys can’t share deeper thoughts or feelings, but he and Everest have never subscribed to that. Which is also why keeping his bubbling interest in Eliana is so challenging.
