“We need a new song.”

He turned his head on the pillow to look at her. “I mean, sure. The other one is just too obvious at this point.”

She went up on her elbow. “I mean for Josh and Lexi.”

He blinked the post-orgasm haze from his eyes. “Are you serious? That is what you were thinking about?”

“No! I mean. I had the song in my head and I was kind of following the rhythm of it, you know, because it was in my head.”

A smile curved his lips. “And that’s why you want a new song?”

“No! I mean, yes, because it wasn’t quite right.”

Now he rose on his elbow, too. “Not right that the kids would be skating to a song you just played in your head for sex?”

“No, it needs—they need something more driving, more emotional.”

His brow furrowed. “I’m…not sure how I’m supposed to feel about that.”

“I mean…it was working but I need a song with more drive. Like the music is pushing them around the rink, you know?”

He rolled onto his back, but kept his gaze on her. “I can’t believe we’re having this conversation and I am still sweating.”

His tone held a chiding note. She felt her own face heat. Maybe she shouldn’t have mentioned it now, should have waited a while longer.

He blew out a breath and looked up at the ceiling. “Do you have a song in mind?”

“Not yet.” She flipped onto her stomach and pressed a kiss on his chest above his nipple. “But when I come up with it, we can try it out.”

He grinned, but when she stretched up to kiss his mouth, he curled into a sitting position and smacked the mattress beside him. “Let’s get dressed and get out of here.”

“What? And go where?”

“Just get dressed. Not in your skating clothes. Just—something comfortable, I guess.” He pushed to his feet and walked to his closet, dragging a long-sleeved shirt from a hanger, and then grabbing some jeans.

“Where are we going?”

He sighed. “Listen to some music, I guess.”

CHAPTER 23

“Declan? Declan. I think I have it.”

“What?” He rolled over to look at Colby as she poked his shoulder.

“The routine.”

“What?” He clawed his way out of sleep toward her bright voice. How could she be so wide awake?

“I have the routine. I don’t want to forget it.”

“Okay?” He rubbed his fingers over his eyes.

“Let’s go to the rink. I want you to help me skate it.”

“You want me to what?” He looked at the bedside clock. “It’s just after three.” He was used to getting up early, but not this early. But she was still leaning over him expectantly. “Are you serious?”

“Absolutely. Come on. I want to see how some of these elements go together.” She scrambled off the bed, and stood facing it, nearly bouncing on the balls of her feet.
