The four of them began shooting and throwing grenades.

This was brotherhood at its finest.

Being there for one another.

Committing mass murder.

All in the name of justice and vengeance.

Blade wished he had his blades. He felt naked without them.

He would have to go back and retrieve them from the pit once everything was over. For now, an assault rifle would have to do.

The battle continued for at least another twenty minutes. Men cursing, blood flying, people dying.

Blade snatched up another assault rifle, then emptied a round at two men who were shooting at Nikolai. Nikolai nodded as his attackers fell to the ground, blood spilling from their guts, eyes open and vacant.

A few feet away, Blade watched as the twin assassins sliced a man’s head clear off his shoulders with their swords before turning their attention toward Blade.

They gave him a crooked smile that could only be interpreted as a promise to separate his head from his shoulders.

Blade stood and glared at the twins, daring them to come and try.

Together, they simply smiled before taking a step backward and disappearing into the darkness of the night.

Had they decided to run off? Or were they simply moving to a greater vantage point?

Blade scanned the area, watching for any signs that death was coming for him.

Nothing.

Deciding it was safe to take a breather, Blade crouched down behind an overturned oil drum and leaned his back against the once pissing-hot metal. Now the surface was lukewarm, providing just enough heat to feel good against his aching muscles.

“Are you heating your back?” Ace asked, eyes moving between him and the overturned drum.

Blade shrugged. “What? It feels good against my back, and I’m taking a rest from all this fighting. Must I remind you that I was wrestling Goliath before you lazy-asses showed up and decided to give me a hand?”

Ace chuckled.

“By the way, who are all these other guys fighting with us?”

It became clear to Blade that there was another crew helping them fight against the Cyanyd Kings. He wasn’t sure who they were, but the fact that they weren’t shooting at them was proof enough that they were on their side.

“They’re a local crew that Marcus asked to back us up. He figured that we would need more bodies if we were going to take down the entire Cyanyd Kings.”

Marcus had been right. It was thanks to the additional bodies that they were winning this fight.

Behind them, the gunfire died down.

“Is everyone dead?” Blade asked, without looking behind him and over the drum.

Ace shook his head.

“Nope. It looks like Marcus and a bunch of the guys are dragging the big boss to a large open space.”

Okay. Now he was curious.

Ace helped Blade up, and together they walked over to where Marcus was standing, surrounded by members of the Shadow Vipers and the local crew who came to their aid.
