It was a gorgeous day outside. The sun was shining, and the birds were softly chirping.
“Can I have my coffee, please?” Ace asked, as Lucas began crossing the intersection, still holding his coffee captive.
There were no cars out—strange for a Saturday afternoon—but Ace didn’t really seem to notice.
“Yeah, I’ll pass it to you in a sec,” Lucas said, hurrying across the street and leaving Ace to walk across on his own.
Strange.
“O… kay… I swear, I showered this morning,” Ace called after his best friend, who apparently couldn’t get away from him fast enough.
From the other side of the intersection, Lucas turned and smiled back at Ace.
What was going on?
Down the road, a thunderous roar began, getting louder with every second that passed.
Ace and several pedestrians turned and watched as a herd of big, burly bikers rode toward them.
“What the?” Ace asked as he began to smile at the sight of his brother and all the members of the Shadow Vipers riding toward him.
Once they reached the intersection, they began riding their bikes in a large circular motion around Ace, whistling and cheering as they caused the biggest ruckus imaginable.
Lucas could no longer be seen on the other side of the street, swallowed up by all the chaos happening around them.
“Marcus, what are you guys doing?” Ace asked, laughing as he watched his brother and friends go wild.
They had all apparently lost their minds.
One by one, the riders all came to a stop, creating a large circle with a small opening to one side.
Caden and Nikolai sat on their bikes, revving their motors, while Alexis and Jake sat on theirs, cheering and clapping as they stared at Ace.
Ace scanned the group of fifteen plus bikers but could not find Blade anywhere amongst them.
“Hey, where’s Blade?” Ace asked, wondering what the fuck was going on.
From within the thunderous roar of chaos, a single motorcycle could be heard approaching.
Ace glanced toward the opening and gasped when he saw Blade ride through it, wearing a suit and sporting a tie.
What the fuck? Now Ace knew that the world had ended. He had never in his life seen Blade dressed in a suit.
Cheers erupted. Engines roared.
Ace watched as his man rode around inside the circle, smiling the biggest smile at Ace that he had ever seen.
Heart beating in his chest, Ace had never felt so seen. So special in all of his life.
This man. This deliciously dangerous and kindhearted man was putting on a show. For him.
Stopping his bike in front of Ace, Blade killed the engine and stepped off it.
He walked the few steps toward Ace, all the while never losing eye contact.
Once he reached Ace, he reached into his jacket and pulled out a single purple rose.
Its petals were gorgeous. Dark purple on the edges and violet toward the middle.
