Warm wetness slid down his bare body.
He didn’t have long. He was most likely going to pass out from exhaustion and blood loss at any moment. He needed to make this perfect.
Feeling the air around him, Blade relaxed his breathing and focused on the grinning target lounging ahead of him.
In one smooth motion, Blade launched all three blades at the man, each one finding its target perfectly.
“Eww, that’s fucking gross!” Ace groaned, staring at Blade’s father, mortified.
“Shit, dude, that’s badass,” Lucas noted, standing next to the bleeding body of the guy Caden was beating.
“That’s how we do it in Russia.” Nikolai nodded.
“Fuck, dude,” Marcus added.
Before them, Blade’s father stood motionless, with a knife in each of his eyes, and one sticking out of his forehead.
His throws were flawlessly executed.
There was no way his father was going to survive those wounds.
Letting out his last breath, Blade’s father fell to his knees, then onto his side.
His empty eyes stared upward as if he was finally noticing the sky for the very first time.
“We gotta get you counseling, dude,” Caden said, slapping Blade on the side of his arm and quickly catching Blade as his body fell forward.
Yup. It was time for a hospital.

“Iswear to god, you have to be the biggest man-baby ever,” Ace complained, blowing some air onto one of Blade’s cuts on his arm. “For such a big, tough guy, you sure seem to whine a lot about a few cuts and bruises.”
“Cuts and bruises? My dad used me as a human pincushion. I had a fuckin’ knife sticking out of my gut. Any other dude would be dead and kissing Jesus’s feet in heaven right now. But no, not your boy. I don’t die that easily.”
“No, but you sure whine like a baby,” Ace muttered under his breath as he lowered the bandage so that it was covering Blade’s forearm once again.
“Or I just like having you blow me when I’m bored,” Blade responded from the corner of his mouth.
Ace’s mouth dropped open.
“You little jackass!” Ace shouted, grabbing one of Blade’s nipples and twisting it so hard he practically tore it off.
Blade chuckled as he squirmed in pain.
“Ow. Come on, I’m injured. Take pity on me. How about a quick handy under the sheets?” Blade asked with a pump of his eyebrows.
“How about I cut that thing off and shove it down your throat?” Marcus asked, walking into the hospital room with a few of the boys in tow.
Blade straightened up in bed and adjusted the bedsheet so that his “situation” wasn’t so noticeable. Ace secretly loved watching his man squirm in front of his brother. No matter how tough he pretended to be, deep down, Blade respected the pecking order.
“Oh, hey, boss. You guys didn’t all need to come and check up on me,” Blade noted, fighting a smile forming at the corners of his lips.
No matter what Blade said, Ace was sure that he was happy as shit that his brothers had come to visit him.
Ace was beginning to realize just how much the Shadow Vipers meant to Blade. They were all his family. He needed that support system and sense of inclusion. After being cast aside by his father and then left on his own for years, family and brotherhood were what Blade truly needed.
