“Sweet,” Gwen noted.
“Too sweet?” Candace asked.
They talked about the drink, but Finley wasn’t listening because Molly had just kissed her neck before putting her head back on Finley’s shoulder. Finley slid her hand up a bit higher and heard Molly gasp. She felt hershift, too.
“Should I stop?” she whispered to her while the others were distracted with Candace and talking about the drink.
Molly cleared her throat and shifted her head to look down at where Finley’s hand had ended up. She was covering Molly’s center, but not pressing down into it to offer her any pressure.
“Probably,” Molly said and looked over at her with the bluest eyes Finley had ever seen.
Finley leaned in and said, “I will if you want me to, but just know thatIdon’t want to.”
“Is it because…” Molly nodded toward Ava. “Because she’s here?”
Finley shook her head and said, “No.” She nibbled on Molly’s ear for a second and whispered, “I won’t lie, though: I am extremely jealous. I just also really, really want to touch you. Last night, on the couch, my hand was so close, and it was so hard to pull away.”
“Hey, you two? What do you think?” Candace asked, interrupting them.
“It’s great. Great drink,” Finley said. “Fruity.”
“Is that good or bad?”
“Just tell her it’s good so that she can pick a damn drink already,” a woman said, walking up to the booth. “She’s been very annoying. Hi. I’m Rory.” She greeted Finley.
“Finley,” she replied to Logan’s girlfriend.
“I think I’m going to go,” Ava said, standing up. “Any chance you’re leaving, too, and can give me a ride? I had a glass of wine before this, and Candace’s shot was mostly rum.”
“It’s too much alcohol? God, what is wrong with me?”
Candace rushed off.
“It’s the wedding. It’s not even close yet, but she’s already freaking out, so this should be a fun year,” Rory added. “And, yeah; Logan’s off now, so we can drop you off, if you want.”
“Thanks,” Ava replied. “Good to see you again,” she added to the table.
“You too,” Molly replied.
Finley chanced running her index finger over Molly’s center, and Molly gasped and looked down as if she needed to make sure that that had just happened for real, which had Finley smiling to herself.
“You doing okay over there, Molls?” Juliet asked.
“Yup. Great,” Molly replied in her high-pitched voice. “I’m really, really great right now.”
Finley repeated the motion, wanting to see if she could get Molly to gasp again because, it turned out, she loved that sound.
“Actually, I think I’d be even greater at home. Is greater a word?” Molly pretended to cough then. “I’m feeling a little under the weather. I think I should just get some sleep. Lots of sleep now. Fin, can you maybe drop me off at home?”
Finley smirked and replied, “Absolutely. I’lldrop you offat home.”
CHAPTER 24
What had happened? They had been talking outside the bar about sex, and Molly had been mid-confession about why she thought they should wait just a little bit longer because she had some insecurities in this department. They had gone inside the bar, chatted with friends, and it reallyhadfelt like a nice double date where they would hang out for a couple of hours and then Finley would take her home. Molly had even planned on asking her to come inside and help her unpack all the dog supplies they’d bought, and after that, she would’ve asked her to stay the night because she was at least ready for that.
Ava had been there, too, and Molly had needed to talk to her. That had been especially true because Finley had been staring daggers at the woman from across the bar, which had gotten Molly turned on immediately. She had spoken to Ava, and it had been a surprisingly good conversation, with Ava forgiving her after Molly had told her about Finley and how she’d always liked her and never thought it would happen. Ava had been more than understanding, and Molly had invited her to their booth because Ava had had yet another disappointing first date and seemed to need some cheering up. When Molly had returned to the table, though, jealous Finley had been amped all the way up, and Molly had gotten even more turned on.
She knew she shouldn’t be. She knew she should have calmed her body down by going to the bathroom and splashing freezing cold water on her face. She should have returned to the table and kissed Finley on the lips, giving her a quick, reassuring smile, and that would have been enough to make Finley realize that Molly was happy to be there with her and didn’t want to be there with Ava. In fact, she and Ava had talked about that at the bar, and Molly should’ve told Finley that before Ava had joined them, but she hadn’t. Instead, she had let Finley boil a little because… well, it was hot. It was also something she’d never thought she would have: Finley Storm jealous because Molly had gone out once with another woman before they’d even started this thing between them.
