Finley wrapped an arm around Molly’s shoulders as she began to tear up.

“Dad…” Molly said and put her hand over her mouth.

Finley kissed Molly’s temple.

“I thought you said you sent everything back,” Molly noted.

“I did. Why?”

“There’s a box over there.” Molly pointed to a box on the floor.

“Oh, that’s India’s stuff,” she said. “I got tired of waiting for her to do it, so I boxed it up for her. I’m going to take it to work tomorrow and get my key back.”

Molly turned to her and asked, “You are?”

“I was planning on giving it to you, but if you want me to give you mine, I can take hers. Not sure if you’re superstitious about stuff like that.”

“You want me to have your key?”

“And when you’re ready, I’d like yours, too, but mainly because you’ll have a cute puppy I want to hang out with, so don’t get a big head about it.”

Molly kissed her and said, “I get to pick her up tomorrow. Stupid puppy worms making me wait to get my puppy. Want to come with me?”

Finley nodded and asked, “Want to look at these pictures now?”

“Yes, but wait.”

“What?”

Molly looked worried.

“You talked to my mom? My mom knows about you?”

Finley just laughed and pulled Molly back into her side.

CHAPTER 34

“Ican’t believe we’re losing to Jacksonville,” Juliet said.

“It’s not over yet,” Molly replied. “We’re only down by fourteen.”

“With five minutes left, and Jacksonville has the ball,” Juliet pointed out.

Molly handed Juliet the bowl of chips she’d just refilled and said, “Take those to the couch and give them to my girlfriend, who is also sulking.”

“I heard that,” Finley said from the couch.

“Why aren’tyousulking?” Juliet asked. “You love this team more than I do.”

“Not much to sulk about these days,” she answered. “I mean, look at my life right now. It’s Sunday afternoon. I’ve got friends in my apartment, including my best friend, whose girlfriend is sitting next tomygirlfriend. I’ve got a puppy who is asleep in the corner in her bed.” She looked over at Wells, who, indeed, was asleep and uninterested in football. “Plus, I’ve got Fin’s new doggy here, and Carly is hanging out with her.”

“They’re all going to be best friends, I think. Of course, Wells would have to wake up for that to happen, but I can feel the bond.” Juliet walked over to the living room. “For you from your girlfriend.” She handed the bowl to Finley.

“Thanks, babe,” Finley said.

“No problem,” Molly replied before she opened two beers and carried them into the living room as well, where she sat down next to Finley on the sofa. “Yours.” She passed one of the beers to Finley, who took it from her.

“Babe, you ready?” Gwen asked Juliet. “I don’t think the Saints are going to win this one, and you have to pack.”
