Heat bloomed in her cheeks, complimenting the heat in her core. “Tai’ri.”
He chuckled. “That’s my name. I want to hear you say it. Torment me.”
If the strain in his voice was any indication, he was already being tormented. She felt bad, but he was an adult and knew how to handle his sexuality. If he said he could wait, then he could wait.
Were Yadeshi men the same as human men? Recalling some of the explicit vids that had come out when the YETI bases were first built—which she had watched as a very guilty pleasure—Vivian’s blush deepened. She knew her skin hid most of the color, but still.
“What if the baby hears?” As soon as she said it, she knew it was ridiculous, and sighed, closing her eyes tightly. “Never mind, that wasn’t rational.”
But he stopped for a moment, then cleared his throat. “They actually can hear, you know. Uhh. . .oh, fuck. Forget the dirty talk. We’ll save that for later. So I’ll be able to look my own baby in the eye.”
Vivian couldn’t help herself; she laughed. “Nowthatis definitely not rational.” But so adorable. If there was any part of her that wasn’t already enamored with this man, those parts were rapidly disappearing. “But maybe I can show you.”
Her hand still on his wrist, she directed him down. “Here.” She didn’t recognize the husky, subtle demand in her voice. “If you please.”
“Idoplease.” Amusement, need, and some indefinable emotion tangled in his voice.
As his fingers slipped inside her body, Vivian stopped trying to figure him out and just felt.
“Do you want to know how you feel?” he asked. “Tight. Wet.” She clenched around him, his words an aphrodisiac. “That’s right. I feel you. Your body wants to come. I’m going to get you there. Again. And again.”
So evidently he’d figured out child friendly dirty talk—which could be a useful skill down the road. Vivian’s chest moved in silent laughter, but laughing and orgasming around his fingers as he plunged in and out of her body was too much.
She cried out, her nails digging into his wrist. He murmured into her ear words she barely heard, but his dark, heated tone said everything.
Languor suffused her limbs, and it was some time later she realized she’d drifted in a half daze. At some point he’d dimmed the lights even further, the rise and fall of his chest at her back soothing.
His groin still pressed against her backside, though. Vivian licked her lips. “I—thank you. That was very nice.” Her cheeks renewed their burn. What was the proper after foreplay etiquette? She sounded like she was thanking him for dropping off a casserole.
Lips brushed her cheek, and she felt the warmth of his silent amusement. “What about you? You—I can—”
“Go to sleep, Vivian.”
“But—”
“Yada’ami, you can barely keep your eyes open.” He sounded, strangely enough, satisfied.
“So, what, that was a hot toddy or something?”
“I love when you snap at me. Now go to sleep.”
She wasn’t going to keep arguing with him, especially when he was right. The exhaustion she’d been pushing aside rushed forward to claim her, and she gave in, letting her mind drift away as his hand settled lightly on her belly, his warmth a cocoon of safety. Of acceptance. Of . . . love.
But she had one question before she slept. “These marks . . . they do way more than what you’re telling me, don’t they?”
“We’ll talk about it soon.”

“I really don’t like surprises,”Vivian fretted, walking laboriously at his side.
He reminded himself to check his natural stride; he’d teased her that she moved slower than an earth turtle. The half amused, half disgruntled look she’d given him was delightful; she hadn’t said he was wrong, though. Tai’ri made a mental note to tell Vykhan he’d been right—he’d needed this time off work to spend with Viv.
“You’ll like this surprise,” he assured her. “You’re female. Why wouldn’t you?”
They crossed a gleaming multi-colored stone tile plaza into a triangular building that appeared made of translucent sheets of glass, the interior a steamy jungle forest.
Vivian balked as they came closer. A large, purple, furry animal reared up on two hind legs and opened its mouth in a yowl behind glass. “I am absolutely not going in there.”
