She followed my gaze. "What for?"

I leaned in, right in her ear. "Kissing."

"Tyler," she whispered, but laughed as I took her hand and brought her right behind them. You had to step through three bushes to get there. That's how I knew no one would bother us.

"You are full of ideas in the morning."

"To get what I want? You bet I am."

I captured her mouth, putting my right hand on her cheek, keeping it in place so I could kiss her the way I wanted. Oh, fuck. The more I kissed her, the more I wanted. I groaned, pulling back.

She looked at me through hooded eyes, but then cleared her throat. She smiled. I was proud that the look in her eyes was dazed. "I think this will be the last kiss you'll get today, mister. The kids seem obsessed to keep you talking."

"That's possible. But Kendra, on Sunday, we'll be back in Chicago, and then all bets will be off."

CHAPTER 12

TYLER

As I predicted,I didn’t get to spend nearly as much time as I wanted with Kendra, but that was okay. I had a plan.

We returned to Chicago Sunday evening. We rode the bus with the kids to their school, where the parents were waiting for pickup.

“How are you getting home?” I asked Kendra when we stepped down into the parking lot.

“I’m taking a bus.”

“My car is here. I can drop you off at home.”

She grinned. “Thanks!”

“Tyler Maxwell! I can’t believe this. Can I get an autograph, man?” a guy asked.

Ah, I should have known the parents would be hockey fans.

I leaned in to Kendra. “I’ll do this quickly. Don’t go, okay?”

She sucked in a breath, licking her lips. “I won’t.”

I signed autographs and took selfies for what felt like a million years. Then I led Kendra to the car, putting our bags in the trunk.

“You were such a hit with the parents,” she said once we were in the car.

I took her hand, kissing it. “It was a great weekend. Although we didn’t get as much time together as I wanted.”

She giggled. “I have to say I found it hilarious that the kids wouldn’t stop throwing questions at you.”

“They were very curious, true. I like their passion for the game. I forgot what it’s like when you’re their age. You care about the competition, but more about the sport itself.” I paused a moment. “Kendra, do you have plans tonight?”

“No.”

That one word was enough to snap my control. The thought of having her all to myself… fuck. It was all I could think about.

I tried to make conversation on the rest of the drive, but the tension between us was messing with my concentration. When we reached her building, I took her bag out of the trunk, following her.

Once inside the apartment, she took off her coat, putting it on the hanger.

Turning around, she pushed a strand of hair behind her ear. “Want to come in? I’ll hang your jacket too.”
