“Devin’s face isn’t actually visible in the photo,” she starts. “My niece, Arianna, bears a strong resemblance to Ms. Miller in hair and build.” She pauses and looks between Sebastian and me. “She is willing to pose as Sebastian’s girlfriend. We have Sebastian and Arianna play the couple. We get you out in public as soon as possible. Even if this person reveals Devin’s name, there is no proof the woman in the picture is her and not Arianna. Without being able to see her face completely, Arianna could easily pass for the woman in the photo. With the two of you not hiding your relationship, most people will believe the story run by theEnquireris just, as Ms. Miller said, fodder trying to create gossip around Sebastian’s new budding relationship.”
We have Sebastian and Arianna play the couple in the photo.
Her words echo louder than others in my head. Sebastian and this other woman pretending to date. That does not sit well with me, especially with the way things are between us.
My prayers have been answered, but at what cost?
My boyfriend, who thinks I don’t take our relationship as seriously as he does, would have a fake girlfriend to save his real girlfriend’s reputation?
“I’ll do it,” Sebastian says with zero hesitation. “Tell me what you need from me to make this work.”
My boyfriend, who is currently not speaking to me, just jumped at the chance to have a girlfriend, who isn’t me, pictured in the papers to take the attention off me.
I want to cry.
I want to jump for joy.
But most of all, I want to not throw up.
