That’s all for now, but I’m sure there will be more.

Sebastian Brooks, CEO

Midtown Advertising

This pompous asshole has to be joking. There is no possible way he could be dumb enough to send an e-mail like this over the company’s server. If this ever got leaked, we would both be fucked. I know Sebastian is a smart guy, but I’m starting to think he lacks common sense.

I also wonder if his sister would appreciate a copy of this e-mail.

Monday and Tuesday, I did my best to avoid his advances. He was radio silent on that front Wednesday and Thursday, but now it looks like he’s back to being a fool.Poor Sebastian. He finally got told no and he doesn’t like it. I’m sure he isn’t used to women putting him in his place.

I’ll let the e-mail go for now, but he needs to watch his step. His ego and his dick got him into this mess to begin with.

Deleting it, I stand and grab my purse from my bottom desk drawer before moving across the office. I pause at the threshold, reaching behind the door to grab my coat. When I turn around, a blur of turquoise rushes past, heading down the corridor toward Sebastian’s office. I watch as his office door opens, and he greets the woman as she reaches him. What the hell?

The woman is pretty—tall, thin, with long blonde locks. She looks a little older than me. Her appearance has me second-guessing whether this might be Brielle’s secret older sister.

This is the second time I’ve seen her in the building. The first time she was leaving Sebastian’s office with Madison. The woman kissed Sebastian’s cheek and then did the same to Madison. She’s back again and my curiosity is piqued.

Sebastian’s eyes lock with mine as he embraces the woman and she kisses his cheek.

Her voice carries down the hall, and it’s like nails on a chalkboard to me. “Hello, darling. Are you ready for me?”

Oh my God.

Who the hell is this woman?

Why the fuck does he need to be ready for her?

Is she his girlfriend?

The familiar way she touches him and the way she acts with his sister leads me to believe that Sebastian does indeed have women coming to his office. I don’t mess with men who have girlfriends or wives, and all this does is fuel the fire for me to stay far, far away from him.

Hell, he just sent me an e-mail saying I have to dress accordingly so it doesn’t arouse him, yet he has a fucking girlfriend. A girlfriend I’m sure he also had two weeks ago when we were together. A shudder rolls through me and the urge to vomit comes quick. How could he do this?

I pegged Sebastian Brooks for a lot of things, but a man who cheats on his girlfriend was not one of them.

Still locked in a staring contest with Sebastian, I turn my head, repulsed by the sight of him. My phone rings in my bag, and I’ve never been happier to hear it.

I turn on my heel and head for the elevator, grabbing my phone.

Mark.

The elevator arrives, and I step on, ignoring the phone vibrating in my hand until I arrive at the ground floor. As I cross the marble floors of the lobby to the doors leading out to Madison Ave, I return my brother’s call

“Hey, big brother,” I say when he answers on the third ring.

“Hey. What’s up?”

Raising my hand in the air, I hail a cab. “Not much. I’m heading to lunch with Bri.”

A yellow cab stops in front of me and I slide inside, giving the driver my destination as I listen to my brother talk. “Nice. Listen, I wanted to know what your plans are for this next weekend? You know, it’s been a while since we had a family dinner together. Mom said she’s called you a bunch and you keep telling her you’ll call back, but you never do.”

There’s a hint of accusation in his voice. Mark is good at the guilt trip. He’s not wrong though. I haven’t made time to call her back and have a conversation. My mind has been consumed with a certain asshole plaguing all my thoughts.

“Sure. Tell Mom I’ll be there. She could have just asked herself, you know.”

He laughs. “She knew you’d be more inclined to say yes to me. It wouldn’t hurt to give them a call every now and then.”
