It was so tempting to crawl back into bed with him, to burrow into his heat and pretend they were just a normal couple. For a moment, they could just act like they had no worries in the world.
She wasn’t a fool, though. Relationships rarely lasted longer than a few months for her. Deep down, she knew it was her inability to connect to men on an emotional level that eventually drove them away. All she’d ever known of men was… they always left her.
The only person she could count on was herself. She used to be able to depend on her career; however, it clearly blew up in her face. All those sleepless nights and hours wasted on a job that dropped her like she meant nothing.
Why did I work so hard for so long? What was the whole point of working for a system that only cared about the bottom line?
There were so many questions, and it waswaytoo early to think.
Quynh left as quickly and quietly as possible. She held her breath until she shut the front door quietly behind her.
Rover slept in his bed in the hallway. He’d watched her with what seemed like judgment in his beautiful brown eyes as she did her walk of shame. A quick pet on his head rubbed the frown right off his face.
Finally, tension escaped her when she got back to her apartment as she sagged against the door. Pickles leaped off the couch where he slept to greet her. Bending down, she gave him a scratch under his chin. His food dish was nearly empty, but she could take care of it later.
What a mess!
Just because they were intimate didn’t necessarily mean anything more. It certainly wouldn’t be grounds to discuss having a relationship.
What they were doing was working out. For now.
It was inevitable they’d have to part ways. She needed to go back home and deal with the mess she left behind. So many things she needed to handle.
Right now, at this moment, the only thing she needed to worry about was getting back in bed. It was still a couple more hours before she’d have to eventually drag herself back out and face the music.
Quynh, you are being dramatic. So what if the man made you see stars not once but twice in a row? It didn’t mean anything.
Ugh. Just the memories of the way he’d looked when he went down on her between her legs were making her achy all over again. Before her impulsive side took over and she ran back to his house to crawl back into Griffin’s warm bed, Quynh made a mad dash for her bed. Burrowing into the cool sheets, she closed her eyes and ignored the tingling sensations through her body at the thought of Griffin.
She resisted the urge to touch herself as thoughts from last night filtered in. It was like she had no control over her body or reactions anymore, like a damn teenager.
One thing was for certain, if he could eat pussy like that, he was likely amazing in bed.
After what seemed like an eternity, she finally fell asleep to thoughts of the handsome, grumpy mechanic with a sinful mouth and wicked tongue.

GRIFFIN
Ring. Ring. Ring.
Groaning, Griffin rolled over to find the offending alarm that dared to wake him up from a deep sleep. He was having pleasant dreams before being pulled out of them. Dreams about what would have happened if Quynh hadn’t passed out after he made her come. Twice. Yeah, he was proud of his prowess, though he hoped to have pushed her for a third. He only stopped when he noticed her droopy and sated form. He hadn’t had the heart to keep pushing for it.
In his dream, he’d strip her of the rest of her clothes, kissing and tasting every part of her body with every inch he revealed, giving the areas he didn’t get to claim last night extra attention.
He needed to find out where else she liked being kissed. What made her moan or gasp in pleasure? What caused her toes to curl? Or even what would cause him to push him away, whether in pleasure or disinterest.
Would she push me away, or would she let me continue to explore her body?
Turning off the annoying alarm, he realized he was alone in his bed. This wouldn’t have bothered him, except he fell asleep next to her sleeping form. She must have snuck out sometime during the early morning hours.
The idea of her leaving him while he was dreaming about her stung. She didn’t even bother to wake him up to let him know she was leaving. Sure, the walk to her place was short, but anything could happen to her. Willowbrook was a relatively sleepy town with low crime rates, but it was never a good idea for a woman to be out alone at night, regardless of how safe the town was.
He pretended the sting in his chest was about worrying about her safety rather than the fact that she left without a word.
Did last night mean nothing to her?
It wasn’t like he was interested in pursuing a relationship with her, but he deserved some respect.
