“As for you, Mr. Carter,” Coco continued, her voice steel. “We’ve received an official complaint regarding your treatment of Marisa Hendrix, a minor. She’s testified that you physically abused her. The police are here. Both you and Mrs. Porter will be escorted out. These cases are now in legal hands.”
Lex stood up in a panic, but two officers entered before he could take a step. They cuffed him and Mrs. Porter right then and there.
Nolan turned to me, slow as ever, leaned in like he was gonna whisper something sweet—but instead, he kissed my neck, low and slow, like I was a dessert he’d waited all day to taste.
And as they dragged Lex and Mrs. Porter out, Nolan reached for my hand, kissed my ring, and whispered, just loud enough for me to melt all over again:
“Time to go fuck, Mrs. Hendrix. You still owe me the moans you had to swallow in this room.”
Fuck.
I was ready.
Chapter Fourteen
Nolan Hendrix
I didn’t say shit when we left that council room—just took Lena’s hand and led her down the hallway like I already knew where I was headed. And I did. I wasn’t taking her home. Not yet. Not with this one last piece of business still hangin’ over me.
“Where are we going, baby?” she asked, heels clicking behind me, breathless.
“I need to handle something real quick.”
I stopped in front of the principal’s office—Mrs. Kelly Sanders. That same cold-ass room I walked into the first day I saw Lena, when all this shit started. I hadn’t been back since. I didn’t need to. But now that everything was locked in, I had to close the damn loop.
I pushed the door open without knocking.
Mrs. Sanders looked up from behind her desk like she wasn’t the type to be surprised by much—but then her eyes caught Lena behind me and her brows ticked up.
“Mr. Hendrix,” she said, all clipped and composed. Then her gaze flicked to my wife. “And Mrs. Hendrix.”
I stepped inside like I owned the place. Slipped the envelope outta my jacket pocket and dropped it on her desk.
“As promised. I quit.”
She stared at the letter, didn’t even reach for it. Just leaned back in that leather chair like she’d been waiting on this day.
“You’ve got what you came for,” she said, voice dry.
“Damn right I did.” I turned to Lena, who looked at me like I’d lost my whole damn mind.
“Nolan, what is this about? Are you leaving your job? Why? Everything went well with the council. Lex and Mrs. Porter won’t be a problem anymore. Why are you quitting?”
I stepped to her, grabbed her waist, pulled her right into me. Pressed my mouth against hers until she melted against my chest.
“Because that was the deal, baby. Now that I got everything I craved and came for, I don’t need to teach here no more.”
I turned back to Sanders, calm as fuck. “Told you I wouldn’t cause too much trouble.”
She snorted. “Two complaints, a school board trial, and enough stress to make my blood pressure double. You did more than cause trouble. Still…” She sighed, glanced at Lena. “It was a good thing to have you here. This school never shined like it did with you on staff. Your name, your background—it brought us donations, exposure, top spot in the city’s rankings.”
She stood, walked around her desk, arms crossed. “But I’ll admit it. I’m relieved. I can’t keep holdin’ my breath, prayin’ you don’t fuck up again. I’m tired of watchin’ your crazy ass, nigga.”
I smirked. “At least I kept my dick outta these walls.”
“You better have. That was the damn deal.”
I shrugged. “Well… deal said I don’t fuck on school groundswhile I’m staff. But now?” I leaned in, cocky grin on my face. “Now I’m just a regular ass parent. So if I feel like bendin’ my wife over a classroom table and fuckin’ the life outta her? That’s technically off the clock.”
