“August, it’s not what you think.”
Before he could utter another word, I threw back my arm and punched my former best friend in the face, breaking his nose. Montana reeled back, a hand flying to his face, blood already welling between his fingers. The shock in his eyes was quickly replaced by a cold fury, and he lunged at me. I was ready for him, and we tumbled to the floor, a tangle of fists and fury. It took three nurses and a doctor to pull us apart, and even then, we struggled against their grip, our eyes locked on each other.
I could see it in his eyes; he knew I was right.
His motherfucking father had done this.
He had gotten rid of Meredith, and now he had taken Amy.
As they restrained us, I saw the truth in Montana’s eyes. He knew the extent of his father’s capacity for cruelty, and he had tried to protect me from it. But it was too late. The damage was done. My sister lay clinging to life, and I would make George pay.
A low, animalistic growl escaped my throat as the truth settled in my bones.
I would make them all pay.
Chapter Fourteen
Shame
“Take Diana and get out of here. I don’t care where you take her; just get her the hell out of here. I’ll hold them off,” Bane said, his voice steady despite the fear in his eyes.
He was right to be scared because when George got his hands on Diana, the man wouldn’t think twice before killing Bane and using Diana to seal a blood pact with her father.
“I know of a place they will never find her.”
Shoving Diana toward me, he yelled, “Go now! Meet me at the clubhouse when she’s safe.”
“What about Montana?” I asked.
“I’ll take care of Montana.”
This was a clusterfuck.
When they tasked me with infiltrating the Soulless Sinners, my job was to observe and watch. Not to babysit. My mission was simple in theory: infiltrate the mother chapter and watch and report on their activities. I was to be a silent observer who blended into the shadows while I gathered information. Mainly, they ordered me to watch the president, George Stone, a man who had come under the radar because of his affiliation with theSociety.
However, I quickly realized that things were not going to be so straightforward.
In the years since the club’s inception, the Soulless Sinners had grown globally and expanded with chapters all around the world. The club was more ruthless than I could have imagined, and their activities were shrouded in secrecy.
I was tasked with earning their trust, and fast.
So, I played the part of a reckless, thrill-seeking newcomer, eager to prove my worth. It was a dangerous game, but it worked. I was initiated into their fold, and soon I had a front-row seat to their dark and twisted world. As I spent more time with them, I realized that the club’s reputation fell short of the truth. The club and most of the brothers were normal, hardworking men who enjoyed the camaraderie of the brotherhood.
It was the few others who were different.
Mainly the four horsemen. Well, that’s what most of the brothers called them. The inner circle. Not the board, but the three men loyal only to George Stone. Together, those four men were not just Soulless Sinners, but monsters in human skin. Their crimes were not just acts of violence, but rituals of pure evil, and at the helm was the Devil himself, George Stone.
And Bane seriously needed to have his head examined if he thought he could handle Montana, let alone George and his lackeys.
“You can’t take care of Montana. He’s a fucking Stone. He’s going to side with his family!”
“Just get Diana out of here. I will call you later,” Bane ordered as he headed back into the hospital.
“Fuck!”
Looking around the parking lot, I knew what I wanted to do, but if I did that, I would blow months, years of hard work and lose vital information my club desperately needed.
“You can take me back to my dorm room.”
