He walked them both over without preamble and flopped down with her snugly in his lap. Right where his cock was trying to tear free of his pants.
Trinia sounded breathless, but she didn’t try to escape him. Instead, she snuggled in a little. Placed her small hands against his chest, right over his heart, like she was cradling it with her palms.
She leaned her head against his shoulder, and her body went lax.
Oh,Fades be praised! That felt good. So good. He couldn’t resist snuggling into her too, resting his cheek on her hair. Nothing had ever felt this full and light and comfortable.
She let out a contended hum that made his bones melt. Her voice was sleep rich as she murmured. “We... we should keep going right? We need to finish.”
Fuck no. “It can wait till morn.”
“Really?” she asked softly. “But I can tell how queued up you are.”
She wiggled her bum against his erection, and he gritted his teeth. “Break.”
Her sigh of relief felt magical. “Thank you, Brovdir. I know... I know I’m making this difficult on you.”
She was. She absolutely was. But not for the reasons he knew she meant. He held her a little tighter. “I like this. Want a break too.”
“All right.” She paused a moment and then brought her hand up to his face. Passed his tusk. Over his ear.
Her hand grazed through his hair. The tips of her nails scratched along his scalp.
He moaned and a delighted shiver swept over him.
She continued to comb his hair with her fingers and his body progressively became more and more relaxed. Every muscle loosened, even ones he had not realized were tight. His eyes drooped, and his mind succumbed to a deep, unwavering contentment. A kind of ease that had been so incredibly rare in his life of fighting and fear.
It felt like home.
Fades, he’d never truly known the meaning of that word until this moment.
Home.
A slight murmur met his ears, and he somehow found the strength to open his eyes.
Trinia’s eyes were closed. Her body had gone boneless. Her lips were parted as she sighed in her sleep.
And she was still gently caressing his hair. Just slightly. Even in her slumber, she tried to comfort him.
His chest swelled with an emotion he couldn’t name. One that made the world brighten and go quiet at the same time. One that felt so rich and wonderful he could hardly fathom it.
He picked Trinia up from the couch—very carefully. Her hand fell away from his head and down into her lap, but she did not wake.
With quick and quiet steps, he carried her to the bed, laid her down on the farthest side, and crawled in next to her.
She rolled toward him, back into his chest. She used his arm as a pillow and his body heat as her blanket. The contentment he felt in this moment was unreal. Like a gift from the Fades themselves.
He did not deserve her.
And he would never let her go.
