I force my eyes to open.

“Nads—” I try to speak, but my voice comes out scratchy.

My best friend whirls around, concerned brown eyes the size of basketballs stare at me. “Lily.” My name comes out in a near whisper as she rushes towards me.

I dart my eyes around the room, taking in my surroundings. “I’m in the hospital?”

Nadine takes my hand into hers. “Yes. You scared the shit out of me.”

“How did I end up here?”
