I’m enjoying it so much that I slurp and croon. A rumble begins in his chest and rolls to his throat. Danny yanks my head, tearing my lips away from my newfound delicacy.

He fists himself until a spurt of creamy fluid bursts onto his abdomen. I sit on my shins, eyeing this glorious man unravel. Silly nerves are replaced with longing. That thing belongs inside me. It’s greed personified in a body part. Yearning whispers for satisfaction. This is lust in its purest form, and my blood thrums for fulfillment.

“Wow.” He sits up. “That was intense.” Grabbing a tissue, he wipes up the goop and takes a winning shot straight into the trash.

I’m breathless and awestruck, wondering if sex will be painful. If it was unpleasant, then there wouldn’t be a billionaire dollar empire based around it.

His phone buzzes on the carpet beside his boxer briefs. Rolling out of bed, divinely naked, he ruffles his hair and stretches his arms into the air.Damn, he’s so hot.

He glances at the screen, visibly exhaling like he’s relieved. “It’s my mom.”

Danny steps into his track pants, hoists them up to his hips, and jogs into the living room. I snuggle under the covers and wriggle my toes in the space. Briefly whispering to Nonna, I tell her not to worry. My decision was well thought out and sensibly justified.

“Hey, Mom,” he answers. “How are you?”

There’s silence while his mom speaks, and then he laughs. “Trust Dad to break it again.”

His mom obviously updates him with gossip because he responds every now and again with an ‘uh-huh’ and a ‘really’..

“Me?” His tone dips. “I’m at the apartment. I’ve got the early morning shift.” There’s a brief pause. “Nope, not a thing. Just chilling out before I go to bed.”

Liar!

My heart plummets from Heaven and crashes on the doorstep of Hell. He didn’t tell his mother about me. I’m insignificant. I was wrong.

I clamber onto my knees, readying myself to leave. Quickly braiding my hair, I fling the long ponytail over my shoulder and drop my feet off the bed.

“What are you doing?” His voice pierces my inner turmoil.

“Leaving. You’re chilling outalonebefore bed, so you can get up early.”

“Viv.” He sighs out my name and sets the plates of pizza on the dresser.

“Don’t worry about it. It’s fine. I’m fine. Life is fine. Everything is perfectlyfine.”

Danny rounds the bed and lowers to his haunches. “My mother can’t wait for her only son to find love. I don’t want to get her hopes up so soon.”

“What about my hopes?”

“What if you decide I’m not the guy you thought I was?”

“I trust what’s inside here,” I whisper, prodding his heart. “That’s all I need to know.”

“There's something I should tell you before things gets serious.” He settles his hands on my thighs and bows his head.

“Danny?” I dip my face down when he falls silent. “Is this the part when you tell me you’re a wanted money swindler or a ruthless gangster?”

He takes a second to reply as if he’s thinking long and hard. Then he shakes his head and exhales. “There’s plenty of time to get to know each other. Let’s take this slowly.”

My thumb strokes the side of his hand. “Are you telling me there’s more to the attractive, hardworking paramedic who’s done with one-night stands and riding motorcycles?” I say playfully.

“What?” His brows snap up. “No way!”

My eyes narrow. “Which part?”

“My motorcycle.”

“They’re dangerous, Danny.”
