“And you don’t know why someone is harassing you?”

Danny stares up at the ceiling, resting his hands on his hips. “It’s nothing to worry about.”

I shake my head. “Someone’s making a point of calling you. An ex, or someone you’ve pissed off?”

He sighs. “Whoever it is won’t call again. Not after that outburst.” The corner of his mouth twitches to a gentle smile.

“Danny, I want to know who it is. I’ll give them a piece of my mind for upsetting you.”

“Viv.” Holding out his hand, he says my name like it’s the very first time he’s ever spoken. “You’re too good for me.”

I reach for him and slot my hand into his. He maneuvers me around, so my ass hits the wall. I'm trembling when he cups my cheeks and swoops down for a kiss.

The connection is manic.

I become fluid against his body of pure power.

I unravel as lust breeds between us.

His rough strokes of fire burn with a wicked heat over every follicle.

It starts out so feverish and crazed, then slows to sweet and seductive. My bag hits the floor, scattering the contents like candy.

“Danny,” I breathe into him.

“Uh-huh?”

“I brought supplies.” I tip my temple to the floorboards.

He glances down, and then his gaze drifts back to mine. “Condoms.”

“Condoms,” I repeat.

“And tea bags?”

“Calming chamomile for afterwards.”

“Condoms and chamomile?” His lips quirk. “You really are one-of-a-kind.” Our foreheads butt together. “You’re perfect.”

Everything about this moment seems surreal. My heart oscillates for his phrase. My core clenches for his declaration of perfectness. My lips search for a connection I already know to be sublime.

His hand latches my wrist, and he tugs me down the hall towards his bedroom. My heartbeat thunders, unable to settle into a steady rhythm.

This is it. No turning back. No do-overs.

“We should talk first.” Serious features locate my wide eyes.

My heart is pumping wildly, and my lady parts are literally buzzing with anticipation. “A conversation is the last thing I need right now, Danny. Unless you don’t want this… with me?”

The fingers wrapping my wrist tighten. “I want you, Viv.”

“Then please, help me out here before I internally combust. I’ve been building up to this moment all day. If we don’t do it now, I’ll lose my nerve.”

A hot kiss lands on my mouth. “I have my own supply to use.” He angles to the side and slides open the drawer in his nightstand. “I got these last week as a precaution.”

I uncontrollably grin, eyeing the neat stash of foil packets lined up in columns. “Meticulously organized.”

He looks me straight in the eye, making my fingers feel fuzzy. “Isn’t that why you like me?” His expression doesn't change. I manage to nod in reply when his hand lightly wraps my nape, and he nudges into me. “Are you sure about this?” He flexes his jaw, and then his tongue skates across my lips.
