Confused, I frown at the statement as Matheus snarls and slams his liquor glass onto the table. “What the fuck are you talking about?”

He doesn’t look for me. Rather, he glares at Blanco, stunned like I am. Part of me wants to stand by his side and hold his hand, but the jilted side of me needs space to figure out how the hell I’d get over him.

“Elias set up your real father and Tomás finished the job.” Blanco’s voice fades as I hurry to the reception hall, clutching my stomach.

When I burst out into the fresh air, I wave off the guards, and start jogging, quickly building to a sprint.

Hands grab my shoulders from behind. I blink the stars away from my eyes, unable to focus. Dazed, I reach for my gun, but my arms are captured.

“What the fuck?” I hiss at the same time as material covers my nose and mouth.

I hold my breath, trying not to inhale, but I’m overpowered. Fumes take hold as I hear my name being yelled. My eyes roll to the back of my head and darkness haunts me all over again.

To be continued…
