Gil chuckled. “Like anyone would say no to Mike Yawney.”

“Plenty have,” he snapped.

Nelson looked between Mike and Franco, and they stood and walked to flank him. “Gentlemen,” he said to the others remaining at the table. “We’re done here. Good luck getting that shit made.”

Turning sharply, he marched toward the door. A glance at me with his hand out and I was scrambling out of my seat and grabbing his hand. The four of us marched toward the door.

“You’re afaggot?” Arnie’s voice rose hysterically.

Nelson stopped and tossed me a look, seeking my permission to do whatever it was he was going to do. My affirmative was just a simple flick of my eyes.

“Actually, gentlemen, by the strictest sense of the definitions, I’m bisexual. However, on the sliding scale of sexuality, I heavily prefer men.”

He pulled me in and dropped a hard, fast kiss on my lips. With another quick look at the other two, they flanked up again and we all marched smartly out of the room.

Down the hall, through the doors and right up to the elevator, none of us left the formation. Thankfully, the doors opened and let us in right away, Franco pushing the button to close them desperately.

We all slumped as they slid closed and Nelson pulled me into a hug. “Thanks, guys. I don’t know if I could have marched out of there with as much dignity as I did.”

“They totally tried to bait and switch us,” Mike said. “I do not appreciate them implying I have ever forced myself on anyone. At all. Ever. That’s fucking bullshit.”

“And that whole scene just smacked of experience,” Franco said. “There were no women in that office, at all. I don’t think Gimme Gimme Films is going to last in the day and age of intersectional feminism and the MeToo movement.”

I popped out of Nelson’s hug and threw my arms around Franco. “Thank you. Thank you for not going along with that shit.”

He patted my back. “You’re welcome, man. It isn’t right and I don’t want a piece of it.”

I gave Mike a quick hug too, then inserted myself back into Nelson’s arms.

Mike smirked. “You’re really bi?”

“Well.” Nelson looked at me. “Technically. I’ve been attracted to one or two women over the years. But I’m mostly about guys.”

“You were faking all that on the red carpet?”

“Nope. One of them was an actual love interest, and the rest were friends. And I brought my mom to the first Oscars I went to years ago.”

“So, who is this gentleman you’re wrapped around?”

“Ah, so rude,” Nelson grumbled. “This is Jace McIntire. My boyfriend. Jace, these are Mike and Franco. Fellow actors.”

Franco laughed as the doors slid open. “I think he knows who we are.”

I turned tomato red. “Yeah, but it’s nice to be formally introduced. Especially since I just spontaneously hugged both of you.”

Mike bobbed his head in the positive. “Spontaneous hugs are fine. Spontaneous leg humping, not so much.”

Nelson tucked me into his side again as we stepped out into the lobby. “So, what are we doing to do with Gimme Gimme? I vote for writing a letter to SAG to let them know what happened. I don’t want to take this further than that.”

Both men nodded in agreement. “I think that’s fine. I can’t be bothered with this for longer than the read lasted,” Franco said. “I’m really sorry you got stuck in the middle of that. I was uncomfortable. I can’t imagine how you felt.”

“Not good,” Nelson answered. “But we’re out and now we have the rest of the day to do whatever we want.” He glanced down at me. “What do we want to do?”

“You’re the one with the house here,” I said. “I have no idea.”

“Show him the ocean,” Franco said. “And introduce him to real Mexican food.”

I perked right up. “Tacos?”
