“I am not a stray dog!” she yelled.

“I didn’t say you were!” he barked back.

“I’m not staying here!”

Why wasn’t she listening to him? He was the alpha.

“Yes, you are! Now, take the phone.”

He took a step forward, and she immediately backed up a step. He growled and took another step. “Take the phone!”

“Go to hell!” she yelled, clenching her fists. “I’m not staying here, and I’m not taking anything from you! You can’t buy me.”

“You belong with us!” Alex yelled, stalking two steps forward. “You will do as I say—take the goddamn phone!” He grabbed her hand and slapped the phone into it.

Eliandra’s arm pulled back, and she threw the phone. Alex snarled in fury, but there was a solid thwap as Bastian caught the phone. Alex blinked at his Beta, uncertain when Sebastian had shifted or how long he had been standing there. He was currently only wearing a sarong, so obviously, he hadn’t left fortoo long.

“Alex,” said Sebastian, “go take a walk.”

“I...”

“I will talk to Eliandra,” said Sebastian, holding his eye. It was a promise that Sebastian would take care of Alex’s interests—as always. “But you need to calm down.” Bastian’s hand flicked upward to his ear, and Alex copied it, realizing that his ears were pointed and fuzzy.

Alex looked back at Eliandra. She was breathing heavily and looked poised for flight. He inhaled to make another comment and realized that she was scared. He jerked back a step. He was scaring her. She was going to fight him tooth and claw, but she was frightened. This was not what he wanted. What the fuck was he doing? How had he ended up in this ridiculous fight over a damn phone? He had wanted to please her, and now she was two seconds from running away. What the hell was wrong with him? This was what happened when he let his wolf into the driver’s seat. All common sense went out the window.

“I’ll be back soon,” he growled and went back outside, unbuttoning his shirt. Sebastian was right; he needed to calm down. But first, he needed to let his wolf out.

Episode 18

The Kitchen

Eliandra

Lia stared at the half-naked man holding the phone she desperately wanted but had just thrown away.

“I’m Sebastian,” he said. “That was Alex.”

“I know who he is,” said Lia. “The Devil of Kavala.”

“Devil... Great. Nice to know he’s got fun nicknames.” Sebastian opened his mouth to speak, shut it, and then his head tilted back as if considering. “I’m hungry. Are you hungry?”

Her stomach growled of its own volition, embarrassingly sounding like a disturbed whale.

“I’ll take that as a yes. Come on to the kitchen. I’ll make you a sandwich and try to explain.”

“There isn’t anything to explain,” said Lia, but following him down the hall.

“Oh, come on,” said Sebastian glancing back at her. “You don’t have any questions?”

“I have a fuck ton,” said Lia. “But I’m not going to ask them. If you want to pretend werewolves aren’t living in Greece and fucking around with immortal Egyptian beings, that is none of my business. I don’t want to know about it.”

“Werewolves?” said Sebastian, pausing as he opened the kitchen door to squint at her. “What makes you think we’re werewolves?”

“You were just out on the porch.” Lia stared at him in confusion. “You came in with a tail...”

“Yes, I did. Most people can’t tell that’s me.”

“But you have the same eyes, and your hair is the same color.”
