A long, torturous sounding growl rumbles through him as if he was waiting for my release to find his.

My lashes flutter open as my heavy breaths fan my hair and then I wonder if he was waiting for me to come first.

Like a true gentleman.

On the pillow we share, he flops down next to me, a smile haunting his features. The warmth of his body wraps around me as I roll to my back and snuggle into his chest.

His big palm skims over my ribs. His eyes follow the movement of his hand even as he pushes slowly over my breast and across my collar bone to thread his fingers through my hair.

My mind begins to think over our history and how much this feels like we’re falling too fast. With Darrio and Dax it was easy. Sort of. But nothing’s been easy with Ryder and me. There was always all this stuff blocking our paths to one another. And now, in the most inconvenient of times, we’ve stumbled right into each other.

“I don’t even know your last name, Ryder.”

I try hard to remember his father’s name but I can’t. I was only a teenager who thought her life was too big to ever remember such tedious details. Sometimes it’s hard for me to remember the color of my father’s eyes. Were they a pure green like mine? There are so many things I should have paid more attention to.

I became a master at ignoring the imperfect and terrible things of our world. Until I became just that.

Imperfect and terrible.

My stomach sinks.

Ryder breathes out a laugh as his light touch teases across my nipple and my thighs shift all over again.

“Rourke.”

Ryder Rourke.

“Does knowing my last name somehow make sex with me better?” His tongue rolls across his lips just before he kisses the angle of my jaw slowly.

“Hmm, I don’t know. We haven’t had sex since I’ve known your last name.”

His teeth rake over my neck as his hands push down my abdomen. An unsteady breath fans over my lips and my legs part for him as his fingers slide down my sex.

“I guess we’ll have to find out,” he says in a gravelly tone.

I can’t help but wonder if Ryder’s trying to distract me from our out of control lives, or if he just really has this much of a sex drive.

Then I realize I don’t care one way or the other.

A moan slips from me, and I think I might hide beneath the blankets with this beautiful man forever.

Chapter Ten

The Simplicity of Love

The shower’s running, the sound of steady water hitting hard metal fills the room. The prince of Juvar gives me a final kiss before he disappears to shower off the abundance of sex he just had. My fingers pull through damp strands. I’m freshly showered but exhausted. Thanks to Ryder.

The dim lighting in the room makes me wonder what time it really is.

Has Darrio woken up yet?

I tug my boots on. The new leather feels tight against my calves, and I struggle more than I used to.

The bedroom door gives a crying squeak as I leave the tiny room.

A knowing smirk greets me the moment I step outside into the hall. Daxdyn’s cocky smile assesses everything about me from my neatly combed hair to the dirt flaking from my boots.

“Late night?” he asks peculiarly, his silver eyes shining in the dim light of the stairwell.
