“What has she done?” I hiss as I stride forward.

“Stop,” a command calls to us.

Sia’s hand slides of his heart.

My own heart aches, even if my mind doesn’t understand any part of this.

Krist’s pointed heel takes a step forward until her bloated figure can be fully seen. Her long nails lift to the light, and she holds something small between her index finger and thumb.

Sialen’s ring. His gift from our Holy Lady of Death.

It gives him power. It gives him life.

“No,” I growl out. “Give it back!”

“Get in the elevator, Miss Lucero.” Her perfect eyebrows lift high upon her bruised face.

Fucking cunt.

“All of you. Now.” Her nails sink into Sia’s white hair, and she’s dragging him to us, setting every nerve in my body on edge as I try not to lash out the second she’s near.

Doors slide open behind me.

“I could destroy this little chunk of metal with the force of my hand. Get. In. The. Elevator.” She nods more gruffly this time.

I peer over at Rueren. And then to Styx.

Neither move.

They wait for me.

Until I turn on my heels, my heart filling with agony from the drifting feel of Sialen’s pain. I do it because of that emotion that’s slicing through me.

I do it for him.

I step over a pile of strange iron shackles at the center of the floor. The three of us enter the small space, and I look up at the one woman I despise more than any other. I will kill her.

I fucking will.

“Good girl.” Her fingers tighten one by one. Metallic dust falls from her palm, and my heart sears with red-hot agony. “Now put the shackles on.”

Oh, I’m going to fucking end her.
