Which is why I thrust a couple more times, slamming into her and burying myself to the hilt.

My cock throbs as my strokes slow, pumping into her as I come.

As soon as I’m spent, I pull out of her before she can orgasm, dumping her onto the bed.

I smirk down at her, trying to force an air of confidence I don’t have right now.

She got to me. I never should’ve unchained her from that wall. Never should have buried myself in her.

Zoe looks up at me, frustration in her eyes, though it’s at war with the amusement there. “Forgetting something?”

“Sorry, prisoners don’t get to come.”

I fix my clothes, snatch the knife and the bottle of champagne before she can get any smart ideas, striding out of the room and slamming the door shut behind me.

Royce walks down the hall, Ellie following behind him.

She stops in front of me. “I want to see Zoe and make sure that she’s all right. You told us that she’s been down here for a week a couple of days ago, and you still haven’t let anyone else see her.”

“I had a doctor look at her after I shot her. You don’t have to be worried.” I glance at the broken bottle on the ground.

Ellie’s eyebrows climb sky high. “You shot her, and you’ve been keeping her locked up?”

“The doctor checked her again this morning.” I shove past the two of them as one of the men standing guard starts to clean up the mess. “Both of you are going to stay out of there and leave her alone.”

Ellie’s eyes are pleading. “Aide?—”

I whirl around. “No! I’m tired of everyone in this family thinking that they can disregard my orders and continue doing what they want. I’m over it. It ends now, understand?”

Ellie purses her lips and gives a sharp nod.

Royce scoffs and continues down the hall. “You don’t know what you’re doing.”

“And you don’t know who the hell you’re fucking with.” I turn and slam my fist into the wall, the plaster cracking.

“Aiden, I think you need to get some help.” Ellie’s tone is soft as she takes my hand. Her touch featherlight as she looks at the tears and bruises blossoming. “There’s something wrong with you. You’re not the same person you were before Noah kidnapped you.”

“Because all we’ve been doing for over a year now is fighting more than ever to stay alive.” I pull my hand from hers. “I meant what I said, Ellie. Do not go behind my back and go in there, do you understand?”

She sighs, shoulders slumping. “I don’t like that you’re doing this, Aiden. I think it’s a mistake that’s only going to bite you in the ass later.”

Maybe she’s right, but none of them know what’s coming. Most of them are too young to fully remember everything I had to do to keep us safe after Sean killed Dad all those years ago.

None of them really knows what lengths I’m willing to go to for their protection, but they’re going to find out.

One way or another.

Chapter Nine

ZOE

I’m losingtrack of the days.

I know it’s been over a week, but everything else is a fog. I don’t know when I’m going to get out of here. I don’t know how long it’s going to be until I see someone again. I don’t even know if the psycho bastard is keeping my sister alive.

All I know is that I’ve spent more time than I’m comfortable admitting to wishing that I had orgasmed the other day. Maybe if I had, I wouldn’t be hauling a piece of metal off the underside of the bed frame right now.

The floor is cool against my back as I shuffle deeper beneath the bed, trying to get a little more leverage on the tiny metal plate.
