Sure enough, almost an hour later, he pulls into the driveway. He sits in his car like one of those men who dread going home to their family. Fucker is probably cheating on his wife, which is enough reason to kill him, but that’s not why I’m here.

I creep out of the car, flipping up my hood and walking down the street, drawing closer to the house as he continues to sit in his car.

Stopping at the next house over, I hide behind one of the trees and wait. He eventually opens his door and gets out, and that’s when I move.

Following him into the house is no easy task, but I manage to slip inside before the side door is fully closed.

Logan moves around the kitchen like he’s a zombie, just going through the motions of his boring life. He takes down a glass from the cupboard, snatches a bottle of vodka from the freezer, and pours himself a glass.

“Bella!” he shouts before throwing back the glass. “Bella!”

He slams the cup down on the counter when she doesn’t answer.

Though he’s muttering under his breath, I don’t catch what he says as he makes his way down the hall and into the living room.

There’s a loud gasp, and that’s when I make my move.

“I’msosorry it had to come to this.” Sarcasm drips from my voice as I pull out my gun and press it to the back of his head.“Now, you’re going to sit your ass down, and we’re going to be talking about all the shit you’ve been doing behind my back.”

Logan turns, and it looks like he’s seen a ghost as he takes a seat on the bloodstained couch. Whether it’s because his wife is dead or because he didn’t think he would ever see me again, I don’t know.

“I d-don’t know what you’re t-talking about.” He swallows hard, clasping his hands together in his lap.

Not once does his gaze go to his wife. That’s all the information I need on how he feels about her.

Not that it matters. She was nothing but a pawn in this game. That’s all anybody is.

I sit on the edge of the coffee table. “I thought you were going to be a smart investment, Logan. You’re annoying as hell, and we can’t discount that, but you were useful. Now? Not so much.”

“I thought you were out.” He reaches up and pulls at the collar of his shirt. “Morgana said you turned.”

“Looks like that didn’t take long to get around the family, which means you and I are going to have to make this fast. I don’t plan on dying tonight when someone comes looking for your slimy ass.”

“You should be nicer to me. I could tell them you’re lurking around.”

The corner of my mouth twitches. “I’d pay to see that. You seem to forget you’re not in a position of power right now. Without me there to protect you, they’re going to be looking to get rid of you as soon as they can.”

Logan’s lips press shut, and he glares at me. Not a word comes out of him, which is probably for the best. I don’t want to kill him just yet, but I have no problem torturing him if he starts pushing me the wrong way.

It would be a shame to ruin Aiden’s surprise, but I’m sure he’d understand.

I lean a little closer to him, tapping his knee with the gun. “You’ve been doing business behind my back, Logan. You told me you couldn’t get the connection reestablished.”

“I couldn’t.”

I shoot him in the shin.

He yowls with pain and jerks back.

If looks could kill, I would be dead right now with how hot hatred burns in his eyes.

Well, looks, and he would have to develop a spine, which I doubt he’s ever going to do.

“Let’s try thisagain. You told me you couldn’t get a connection established, even after the Columbians said they would only speak to you. But that wasn’t true. You established a connection and cut me out of the deal. You went around, trying to undermine my authority.”

“Don’t think there was any trying about it.” He gives me a smug little smirk.

His smugness fades the moment I raise my foot and dig the pointy heel of my boot into his bullet wound.
