I grab her face and kiss her. Effectively shutting her up. Yes, yes, I know all she was about to say—she’s not a weakling, she can defend herself, all that tough-girl jazz, blah blah.
But she’s stillmine.
She moans into my mouth, grabbing fistfuls of my shirt.
Like a man possessed, I slam her back against the wall, palming and squeezing her breasts, grinding against her. She rubs her hands over my chest, lowering them only so she can sneak them under my shirt, the soft flesh of her palm against my skin.
I drop my hands between us, unbuttoning and unzipping her shorts before pulling them down her legs along with her lace underwear, falling to my knees in the same motion.
Her eyes—which change to a liquid dark-gray whenever she’s turned on—follow me all the way down. Then her mouth falls open with an, “Ohgod” when I cover her with my own.
I furiously lick and suck and finger her until she’s shuddering and gripping my hair so tightly that I worry I might have a bald spot when she’s done.
Once she’s unravelled, I stand and flip her around so she’s facing the wall, my chest to her back. I pull both of her arms behind her and band them together with one of mine. Then I single-handedly get my raging hard-on out, clothe him with a rubber, and pound her until we’re both slumped against the wall, spent and satiated.
Later, once we’ve caught our breaths and managed to crawl up onto the bed, her head on my chest, her palm gliding idly over my abs, she asks, “What was that all about?”
“What?” I ask, playing dumb.
“Devouring me like the world was coming to an end?” she expounds. “Something bothering you?”
I twirl a lock of her hair around my finger and lie, “No.”
“Nah, I think something’s bothering you.” She trails her fingers down the cut between my pecs. “But I’m letting you off the hook for now, because that washot.”
Great, because I don’t want to talk about it. Don’t want to talk about how ashamed I am for being jealous of my little brother. They had a connection and I felt left out. Felt like I was losing her. And I wanted to deepen, buckle down, remind her of our connection, using one of the few things I’m excellent at. Sex.
That’s what “all that was about.”
A possessive and insecure reaction. Two things I’ve never, ever been in my life. Somehow, this woman has managed to awaken all sorts of foreign emotions in me and it’s making me lose it.
“You’re invited to the barbecue,” I tell her.
“Didn’t seem like you wanted me to be there downstairs.”
I play with the shell of her ear. “No. That’s not it at all. I—”
“It’s fine,” she cuts me off. “It’s a family thing, I don’t need to be there. Besides, I don’t care to explain anything to anyone. You saw Cedric’s reaction earlier. I’m good with us just hanging out on the low.”
Hanging out on the low. Is that what she thinks this is? That we’re just “hanging out”? Does she think I would invite her to meet my family if we were justhanging out?
We need to have a conversation about this. She needs to understand that this is not just a ‘while I’m in Denver’ thing. This is an ‘I’m so serious about you that I want you to move back with me’ thing.
I don’t do flings. I prefer to invest my time and energy in things I’m passionate about. And damn if I’m not passionate about this girl.
Her phone rings and she shifts from me to dig it out of her shorts pocket. “Yo,” she answers, then pauses to listen. “No, I’m in RiNo…When?...Okay…No, it’s fine. You got Mountain Dew in the fridge?... Cool, I’ll be there in a few.”
She hangs up and sits up. “Gotta go. That was Grunt. Gonna babysit for them. They’re going to a barbecue, which I’m assuming is the same one you’re heading off to.”
Right. I keep forgetting the close connection between those two. “On such short notice?”
She shrugs and pulls on her blouse, straightens her shorts. “They know I’ll never turn down an opportunity to chill with the little guy.” Pressing one knee to the bed, she leans over and gives me a quick kiss. “No need to move. I’ll grab a cab outside.”
“You sure?”
“Yep. Now, go shower and spend time with your brother.”
I brace up on my elbows, watching her go. “Call me if you need anything, alright?”
