His hips roll and I cry out.
“I love you too,” I say breathlessly. “Now put a baby in me, cowboy.”
He chuckles and grabs my hips. “Yes, ma’am, but you better hold on to the headboard, darlin’.”
Chapter sixty-six
Eliana
One Month Later
LifeinBlackLakeis different now. Fall is upon us, and the strange deaths and random bodies found on the highway have gone down to nearly zero. People die of natural or understood causes now. The sky is brighter. People in town are even a little nicer. But what I found the most interesting is that we haven’t seen the flower in months. It’s not like people stopped dying.
The only reason Killian and I can come up with is because the curse is gone. It’s lifted.
We’re free of it, but the Spirits still talk to me. They say it’s not like it was before. At least we can rest easy in that.
It also makes me feel better because I’m pregnant. Killian doesn’t know yet. I was waiting to tell him when we get married in a couple of days. I’m scared, excited, and so overwhelminglyhappy there aren’t enough words for it. I touch the necklace around my neck. Grams would have been so happy. I know she would have loved to see the life Killian, and I have grown.
The greenhouse is in full swing, and I was able to double my growth for fall plants to the point Killian helped me expand into other towns. Now I have agreements with them to come to me for wholesale tinctures, salves, soap, and other things I come up with. The scale is double what Grams, and I did. But it’s all Killian. He encouraged me to go for it, and I did.
I fold the last of the laundry and carry it up the stairs to our room. “Little witch!” Killian yells.
“Upstairs!” I yell back.
I hear his boots pounding up the steps, and stop at the bedroom door. “I don’t want to wait anymore,” he says.
I close the drawer and lean against it. “What are you talking about? It’s not dinnertime.”
“I’m not talkin’ about dinner, baby. I want to marry younow.”
“Killian, there’s going to be two people there. Wyatt and Pastor Beckett.”
“Exactly Why wait?” he says with a hopeful voice.
I made my own wedding dress. There isn’t a bridal store here, and I figured it would be easier, and it’s done, right on time for our wedding.
I giggle and run my hand through my hair. “Really? You want to do this now?”
“Yeah, I really do. I was checking on the herds and realized I can’t take it anymore. I want you to be mine, and me to be yours. It feels like a new beginning for us, and I don’t want to wait anymore.”
“Do Wyatt and Beckett know this?” I ask him.
His smile widens.
“I already talked to them.”
“Then get your stuff and leave me alone. I have to get ready,” I tell him.
He smiles widely, his eyes bright and excited as he kisses me on the cheek.
“Thank you, darlin’.”
“Wait, Killian,” I say quickly. I wanted to do this before we got married, so now is the time.
“Yeah?” he says, eyes wild, and full of hope.
“I wanted to tell you before we got married, but …” I take a deep breath. “You’re not only going to become a husband today.”
