He’d come to pick me up from The Grand Palace Resort, the firstcasino me and Fox opened in Vegas, and where my main office was.
“It would appear your wife has been doing a few homeimprovements,” he said, a hint of humor in his voice despite doing his best to hide it.
I raised an eyebrow as a pang of anxiety ran through me. I was sureSavannah’s version of home improvement was with one goal in mind.
To fuck me off.
“What kind of home improvements?”
“It seems she has replaced the majority of your furniture with goodsfrom charity shops,” Brian replied, this time unable to hide his amusement.
I blinked several times at him, sure I hadn’t heard him correctly. There was no way Savannah would have got rid of myinsanelyexpensive, not to mention rare furniture, and replaced it with second-hand shit from a charity shop?
But as soon as the thought crossed my mind, my gut churned withcertainty that Savannah would do something like that if it meant getting a reaction from me.
In fairness to her, I hadn’t specified what type of shopping she coulddo today, and I had also said we could change the decor if she didn’t like it.
Note to self. I needed to be more specific when giving her orders.
“Any idea where my furniture might be?” I asked Brian, keeping myexpression neutral, all the while ideas ran through my head on how I was going to deal with Savannah for this.
I wasn’t mad at her, on the contrary, her sneaky behavior was ratherentertaining. Sadly for her, she wasn’t going to get the reaction from me that I was sure she’d been hoping for.
Not yet anyway.
“I checked her call records. It looks like she made a call to a storagecompany in the city, and then paid quite a large sum to them. I called them and they confirmed they have your belongings in storage.”
“Excellent. I knew I could count on you,” I said, slapping him on theback as I opened the backdoor of the car and slid in.
Brian duly got in the driver’s seat and pulled away from the sidewalk. For the entire journey home, I went over Savannah’s phone records, followed by my bank statement, noting she’d spent anincredibleamount of money in one specific charity shop.
With a few phone calls of my own, I had my plans in motion fordealing with my naughty wife.
Chapter 20
Savannah
Ididn’t start the day intending on getting rid of Nash’s furniture. Infact, I’d stayed awake all night feeling guilty for making him ill, and when the first rays of the morning sun started to stream through the windows, I shot out of bed, determined to make amends with him.
But after our argument, he could go to hell on a scabby donkey for all Icared.
The asshole was right though, Ididagree to the terms, and if Iwanted to keep Liam alive, I had no choice but to abide by them. Did that mean I had to play strictly by the rules though?
No.
Rules were made to be bent, and that was what I intendedto do.
It was after he left for work that I collapsed on the couch, exasperated, frustrated, and furious, and as I stared around the living area with angry tears pricking my eyes, inspiration struck.
The temptation to piss him off by changing all his expensive furniturefor cheap crap was too good an opportunity to let pass me by.
Petty? Yes.
Did I care? Absolutely not.
He did say I could go shopping after all.
I supposed I could have asked Aaron to drive me to an art storeso I could buy new sketchbooks and pencils, but where was the fun in that? This was a win-win situation, I got to piss Nash off while doing my bit for charity.
