It was only when we passed the chiming machines in the casino andentered the shopping plazathatI started wondering where he was taking me.

“Where are we going?”I said, my eyes wide as I took in the paintedceiling and the buzz of people shopping in designer stores. I hadn’t been to this part of the casino before.

“I want to show you something,”he said, suddenly pulling me to astop and spinning me to face him.“I have something for you too, baby girl.”

“Oh yeah?”I said, repeating his words back at him and grinning.

“Yeah,”he said, kissing my forehead.“Turn around.”

I quirked a brow, wondering what he was up to. Slowly, I turned, coming face to face with a huge black curtain draped across the front of a store blocking me from seeing what was sold inside.

Confused, I looked over my shoulder at Fox who was smirking. Hereached into his pocket and pulled out a little remote, handing it to me.

I stared at it with my brows furrowed.“Erm, thanks?”

He chuckled.“Hold it in front of you and press the button.”

Bemused, I faced back to the curtain, raising my arm, and feelingstupid as people stopped to stare.

As I pressed the button, the curtain fell, revealing the storefront. When it hit the floor, so did my jaw.

In bright white lights above the door were the words,‘Cora’s Cakes.’

Tall glass windows let me see into the shop floor where pink and silver booths lined the walls, and an enormous jukebox stood in one corner. Along the back wall was a huge glass counter ready to display cakes and other goodies. In the middle were several tables, and sitting at one with enormoussmiles on their faces were Nash and Savannah.

“I don’t…I don’t understand,”I stuttered, turning back to face Fox asmy brain struggled to understand what was happening.

“It’s yours, baby girl. Your own bakery,”he said proudly. Dumbfounded,I gaped at him, unable to move as disbelief washed through me.He laughed at the stunned expression on my face as he grabbed my hand.“Come on, you can check out the inside.”

It was a good job Fox was holding my hand, I didn’t think I wouldhave been able to walk otherwise. Nash pulled the door open as we reached it, a little bell chiming above it.

“Congratulations, Cora. First of many bakeries,”Nash said, wrappinghis arm around Sav’s shoulders as she joined him.

They’d onlyjuststarted talking again after she’d given him the silenttreatment for almost a month. I hadn’t believed her at first when she told me Nash had implanted a tracking device in her, and was refusing to tell her where in her body it was so she couldn’t get it removed.

But Fox confirmed it was true, and it was only when Savannah hadserved him with divorce papersthathe’d told her it was in her neck. I didn’t know how he’d done it, but Nash had managed to convince Sav to keep the tracker in.

I couldn’t find the words to reply to Nash as my gaze roamed aroundthe shop, taking in every little detail. It was exactly how I’d imagined it to be.My heart began racing, tears filling my eyes as I imagined rows ofcakes behind the glass counter, all made by me, and happy customers sitting in the seats.

I didn’tevennotice I’d dropped Fox’s hand as I walked around,running a finger over the tables.

“If you don’t like the way it’s decorated, baby girl, we can change it,”Fox said from behind me.“Through the door is the kitchen. It’s all set up ready for you to start baking.”

Behind the counter was a door with a glass window. Standing ontiptoes, I peered through, getting a peek at the sparkling kitchen.

“I...I don’t know what to say,”I said, spinning around only for my jawto drop a second time.

Nash and Sav had disappeared, leaving Fox and me alone.

Fox was down on one knee, a ring box in his hand.“Cora,”he said, clearing his throat.“The minute I met you, you changed my life, and I don’t ever want to be without you. I want to share every minute of your life with you. I want to be the one who makes you smile. I want to be the one who holds you when you’re upset. I want to be the lucky fucker who gets to wake up every morning and ask what on earth I did to be given the opportunity to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you, baby girl, so would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

Silent tears slid down my face as I stared down at the ring. It was aplatinum band with a single royal blue diamond. The same color of the flowers we put on Jessie’s grave every time we visited.

It was beautiful.

“Kinda leaving me hanging here,”Fox said, chuckling.

A laugh burst free as he stood, taking my hand and sliding the ringon my finger.
