Ididn’t wonder if the guys had security cameras until it was too late.

Bythe timeFelixandColecame back outside,Iwas sitting in one of the deck chairs, drying myself off.

"Thanksfor letting us use the hot tub again,Cole,"Itold him.

"Anytime.Evenif none of us are around, you’re welcome to use it."FelixhelpedColeput the cover back on the hot tub, then he andItook our leave and headed to the guest cottage.

Felixwas silent, andIcast about for something to say.Iwas pretty sureIwouldn't have been this uncomfortable with him before my conversation withLisa.

Icleared my throat. "Youwanna see what's in the fridge we can heat up for dinner?"

 Felixnodded. "Sure.Soundsgood."

Hewent silent again.Isighed internally and focused on crutching as swiftly as possible.Myhip was looser and less painful after the soak in the hot tub.MaybeCraigwould let me put a hot tub in the rental house. It’dgive me an excuse to haveFelixover at least.Well, no.Felix’saches and pains would be healed in a week or two, unlike mine.

“Yourfriends seem nice.”Fuck, was that the bestIcould do? “It’sgood they want to support you.”

Felixnodded, looking out over the pasture fence toward the horses. “Ihaven’t told you this yet, butCalwould’ve saved us from the bomb ifI’danswered my phone yesterday morning.”

Iremembered his phone ringing while he’d been yelling about the box on his car. “Evenif you’d answered his call, the box would’ve still been there.”Andif he hadn’t been so angry, he might not have thrown the box.Thatwas what had saved us.

Felixglanced at me. “Calhas this... ability.”Iraised my eyebrows, waiting. “He, um, has dreams about things that come true.”Thenhe told meCalhad predictedFelixwould run intoGregat the pet resort, and he’d called yesterday morning to warnFelixabout the bomb.

Iwas skeptical.I’dbarely metCal, andIcouldn’t see what he’d gain, other than attention, by claiming to have dreams that came true.Buta psychic?

ThoughIknew some psychic had warned theTexasRangersaboutBriangetting kidnapped last year, so maybeCalwasn’ta bullshitter.Felixseemed to believe him, soI’dwithhold judgment for now.

Onarrival at the guest cottage,FelixandIpeeled off to go to our separate rooms to shower and change clothes.Thenhe settled on the floor by the couch to giveMariposaa massage whileIinvestigated the fridge and freezer.

I’dpulled out a promising-looking spinach lasagna when someone knocked on the front door.

“I’llget it,”ItoldFelixand crutched my way through the living room.WhenIopened the doorIwas confronted once again withCole’sgrinning face.Behindhim wereJasonandWill, along withDel, one ofSheltonSecurity’spersonal protection agents.I’dleft the top down on theBuick, and they were all checking it out.

“I’mhere to borrow your fabulous land yacht,”Colesaid, holding his hand out for the keys.

 Ieyed him. “Yousober?”

Heput his hand over his heart. “Noalcohol in the last two hours, andIwon’t be drinking while we’re out.”

Igrunted and turned to go grab the keys from the kitchen counter.

 “Hey,Felix,”IheardColesay behind me.

Felixgreeted him.AsIwas returning to the living room,Felixsaid, “Cole, while you’re out in theBuick—don’t you think it needs a name?Malcolmonly calls itTheBuick.”

Colegave an exaggerated gasp and clutched his chest with a shocked expression.Tothink this man used to make money acting.

“Felix, thank you for bringing this crime against humanity to my attention.Iwill make sure she returns with the perfect name.”

Felix, the little fucker, gave me a self-satisfied smirk.

Iput the keys inCole’soutstretched hand and gestured for him to precede me out the front door. “Youtwo can name the car whatever you want, butIdon’t have to call it anything buttheBuick.”

Colestopped in his tracks and made the gasping noise again. “Ihave the best idea.Thishas been a great day for ideas!”Heturned back around and pointed atFelix, who was still sitting on the floor withMariposain his lap. “WhenIput the picture of me in the car onInstaI’lllet my followers come up with the name!”

Igroaned asFelixpraisedColefor coming up with such a brilliant plan.

“Yeah, yeah, whatever.”Imade a shooing motion to getColeto move toward the front door again. “TheBuickhas a couple of quirksIneed to show you.Let’sgo.”
