I was considered a “seer”
A Cassandra was a “baby seer” who was born to an NPC family
There was a DM somewhere – so the DM was running this (whatever it was) as a game? I wasn’t an NPC, but could I opt out of being a player?
Delphia Shaw had to be involved in the game, because how else would the shifters know about me?
Delphia is the mother of Malcolm’s friend Greg
I tapped my cursor over Greg’s name. I might be able to get some answers out of Delphia, but I’d googled her, and she lived over an hour away from Bent Oak. I’d go there if I had to, but it’d be easier to start with Greg.
I nodded to myself. I’d call the pet resort tomorrow and see when Greg would be working next. Then I’d ambush him.

Today was a waste. We got to Cal’s apartment building at 8am but he was already gone. We checked back every so often. He got home between 2pm and 4pm, but he hasn’t left since. We’re going back at 4am so we won’t miss him when he leaves.
Greg_DM_Central_TXMarch 25 at 9:19pm
Ouch, that sucks. What will you do if he doesn’t leave his apartment tomorrow?
Ellis_DM_Northeast_TXMarch 25 at 9:22pm
Pull the fire alarm.
Just kidding. I don’t want to knock on his door and make him feel threatened though.
Shane_DM_Southeast_TXMarch 25 at 9:25pm
We’ll play it by ear I guess
Greg, has your mom talked to Cal since he ran into the bear shifter?
Greg_DM_Central_TXMarch 25 at 9:28pm
No. She said she wanted to wait to see if either of you resonated with him first
Ellis_DM_Northeast_TXMarch 25 at 9:33pm
Hah, if we don’t resonate with him, I bet she’s planning to make *you* have the big reveal conversation with him. You won’t be able to escape meeting him in person

CHAPTER 7
CAL
Steve hadplans with his husband for later in the morning, so my proposed Sunday brunch had turned into a 9am breakfast.
“Babe” by Styx kept me company as I made the short trip to the diner. I was hoping it would calm my scattered thoughts, but even Dennis DeYoung’s satiny tones couldn’t achieve that feat.
I found a decent parking spot on one side of the diner between two sedans. Felix had requested we eat here because he loved their chilaquiles, which he always ordered with a side of French toast.
