“Is that so?” He raises a cocky brow, reaching for my breasts again.
“Tumors,” Abe blurts out. “She had tumors removed.”
The man’s eyes scan my body, an emotion that resembles empathy in them. It’s quickly replaced by something else. Something sinister.
“Well, that just means we’ll have to skip the previews and go straight to the main feature.”
The moment he grabs the hem of my gown, Abe speaks again. “I did my part. My family…?”
I know what he’s doing, and if we ever get out of here, I’ll find a way to thank him. He’s thinking about me, a stranger, when his own wife and child are in danger.
The big man pulls out his phone and makes a call. “Let them go.”
When he hangs up, he reaches for a gun, smirking while pointing it at Abe.Oh, God.
“I haven’t decided what I’m going to do with you yet, sodon’tpush me.”
I gasp, realizing he’s figured out Abe’s tactic. A knock at the door draws his attention.
“What?” he barks.
A man steps in, extending a phone to the giant. He takes it, placing it at his ear in annoyance.
“Yes?” He listens before his gaze flicks to me, then he walks away. However, before he leaves the room, I hear his words. Words that fill me with hope.
“I have to say, you’re more resourceful than I thought, Mr. Hunter.”
CHAPTER 19
***Einstein***
Gage places an old flip phone on the table in the chapel. I stare at it, wondering how it’s going to help us.
“Got this off Willoughby,” he says. “It won’t get us to the boss, but to someone close to him. He didn’t even have a name, so we still don’t know who we’re dealing with.”
“How are we moving forward?” I ask.
Tek was able to track the ambulance for a few miles, but he thinks they changed vehicles because he lost them. We have no idea where Ellen is.
Gage nods to Tek, who begins setting up his equipment.
“I’m going to call the number on the phone and genius here is going to track it. Even if we can’t get a definite location, we should be able to ascertain a general area.”
“Call,” I tell him, twitching to get my hands on the motherfucker who snatched my woman.
Gage dials, placing the phone back on the table. A gruff voice comes on the other end.
“What doyouwant?”
“This is Gage Hunter. I want to talk to your boss.”
There’s silence at the other end, then shuffling. Before long, another man comes on.
“Yes?”
“Turn my sister over and I promise I’ll kill you quickly.”
“I have to say, you’re more resourceful than I thought, Mr. Hunter.”
