“I talked to my lawyer, too. Any legal stuff you two need, you contact him.”

I walk back to him, burying my face in his chest. “Thank you, Gage.”

“You’re welcome, shorty.” He kisses the top of my head, then takes Mikey from my arms. “Come on, little guy. How about I get you and Auntie Raven some ice cream?”

“Yay! Ice cream!”

I chuckle, watching them walk away. Turning back around, I take another look at the room, my heart beating with a new purpose. This space means I can operate like a proper business now and actually take care of myself. When Eddie and I started dating, I was waitressing at the Pretty Kitty. Once we found out I was pregnant, he insisted I stop working. Eddie was very good with money; the house is paid for, and he had a hefty life insurance policy. With that, his savings, and my dad and brother, I haven’t had to work the last couple of years. Instead, I spent the time being home with my son. I became interested in event planning after organizing Raven’s birthday party last year. I even did an online course and got a certificate.

Now I can stop working from home. I can get out of the house that’s filled with so many memories and thoughts of what could have been. I’ll have something to devote my energy to, other than my son. Something to keep my mind off Eddie. Something to help me move on.

Finally.

CHAPTER 3

***Einstein***

Bikes line both sides of the street as far as the eye can see.

I thought maybe a few officers from a couple chapters would be here, but it seems that’s not the case. We park near the gate, and I help Mikey out of the car, keeping him close.

“Wow,” Ellen says. “It’s like Woodstock in here.”

“Tell me about it. I don’t think we have the space to hold all these people.”

Gage and Raven join us, both sporting huge grins.

“Do you see this?” Gage asks in excitement.

“Yeah, man. This night is going to be one for the history books.”

“Of course. Everyone wants to meet the woman who got Gage Hunter to put a ring on it,” Raven chimes in, wiggling her ring finger.

Ellen laughs, picking up her son when he begins to fuss.

“Is he okay?” I ask.

“He’s fine. Just sleepy.”

“Come on.” Raven takes Ellen’s hand. “Let’s give him a bath, and you can put him in our room.”

Before they can walk off, I touch Ellen’s shoulder. She turns to face me, waiting expectantly.

“Stick around for a while?”

She gives me a weak smile and a nod before walking away.

“What was that about?” Gage asks, raising a brow.

“I just think she needs to be around her family right now.”

I opt to keep last night’s events between me and Ellen. She has already apologized, even though she didn’t need to; I know it was just her way of trying to deal with her pain. She needs support right now, not her big brother in her business.

“You’re right,” he agrees. “I haven’t seen her like this in a long time. I thought….” He shakes his head. “I thought she was finally moving on. It’s my fault, and I have no idea how to fix it.”

“You need to stop blaming yourself. Eddie wouldn’t want you to. And I’m not just saying that. You know the type of man he was.”

“Yeah, but still….”
