“He can?” Mikey asks.

“Yeah,” Razor chimes in. “He’s a doctor. He knows all about that stuff.”

“Shut up, you two,” I snap.

“Hey, just answering the kid’s questions. Uncle Venom is nothing if not helpful.”

Before I can tell him what to do with his helpful information, Jon and Gage enter the room. Mikey launches off my lap, running to Jon. He hoists the boy into his arms while Gage heads to the bar.

“Ice-tie! Uncle Venom said you can help me get a baby brother!”

“Uncle Venom said that, huh?” Behind Mikey’s back, he gives Venom the finger.

“Yeah. Auntie Raven has a baby in her tummy. Can Momma have one, too?”

“Tell you what. I have the stuff in my car for our experiment. You wanna help me with that now?”

“Yeah!” he shouts, baby brothers temporarily forgotten.

Jon shifts Mikey, letting him straddle his neck before leaving the room. However, I don’t miss his wink aimed at me. Knowing Venom, I move away so he won’t see my blush; I think he’s teased me enough for today. Gage throws an arm around me, pulling me in to his side when I join him at the bar.

“Can I get you something, ma’am?” Tyler asks.

“I could use a shot of whiskey.”

“You okay, sis?” Gage asks as Tyler pours my drink.

“I’m good. I’ll be fine.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah.”

Letting out a frustrated breath, he wraps both arms around me, pressing his face into my neck. I hug him back, knowing this is him trying to comfort me. That’s just the way he is; he’s an action-not-words type of man.

“Don’t hide shit from me anymore, shorty.”

“You just came back from your honeymoon, Gage. Plus Daddy—”

“No.” He pulls back, eyes identical to mine staring at me. “No matter what, youalwayscome to me. Got it?”

I nod, but he shakes his head. “Words, shorty.”

“I got it.”

“Good.”

We clink our shot glasses together, downing the liquid in one gulp and then slamming them on the counter. I fix my gaze on my brother, noting he still seems worried. With everything he’s been through in the last year, I hate to add to his despair. On top of everything, I know he blames himself for Eddie’s death. I guess a part of me blamed him, too… the MC. Now that I know what happened, I can see why it devastated him.

“Gage.”

He glances up. “Yeah, shorty?”

“What happened to Eddie….” I take a deep breath, cupping his cheek. “I want you to know that I don’t blame you. It wasn’t your fault.”

“You can’t say that. You don’t know what happened.”

“I know enough to tell you it’s not on you. Eddie wouldn’t want you blaming yourself.”
