Her head dips, discomfort at the compliment evident. The woman has no idea how desirable she is.
“I hope you don’t mind. Am I even allowed to wear it?” She points to the shirt.
“Of course, darlin’. Hungry?”
“Famished,” she answers, taking a seat at the table.
The bread pops up from the toaster and I add it to her plate of bacon and eggs. “How do you feel?” I ask as I place it before her.
“Good. Better.” A blush stains her cheeks as she digs into her eggs.
“Your nipples?”
“A little sore but okay.”
“Think you’ll be ready for me tonight?”
“Maybe.”
“What’s it been, like two and a half years?” I take the chair across from her.
“Yeah, about.”
“And James is the only one you’ve been with?”
“No. I was seeing someone in college before he and I hooked up.”
She’s quiet, pushing her eggs around the plate. I can recognize the reticence. I feel the same way when I have to talk about my family, so I change the subject.
“What was your major in college?”
“Elementary Education, specializing in English.”
“One of those women who loves kids, huh?”
“Don’t you?” She glances up at me.
“Sure. I just don’t see myself having any.”
“Me neither. I figured by my age I’d already have a few but”—she raises a shoulder in a shrug—“life.”
“I hear ya. Did you sleep well?”
“Great. You’ll have to letmemake you breakfast one morning.”
“Deal. You can do that tomorrow.”
“Okay.” She looks up at me, a smile tugging at her lips as she tucks some blonde strands behind her ear.
I know I’m staring, but I can’t get over how beautiful Emily is. I could easily spend the entire day in bed with her working on that list.
“Got any plans today?”
“I’ll be at the pet shop helping Uncle Jeff with inventory.”
“I’ll pick you up later and we can head to the gym to figure out that plan for you if you still want to do it.”
“Sure. What will you need from me?”
