“I did research. I’d never put you into danger on purpose.”

I glance at her and smile. “Thank you. The punishment was perfect for what I did.”

We get into the shower together, and she washes my hair. Her nails scrape against my scalp, and being with her, everything is lighter. “I think you should wear it next time we play with anyone else. I don’t think you can be trusted anymore.”

I swallow, but she’s right. “Of course.”

Toweling off after the shower, she leaves and returns with the key. Unlocking me, she puts the cage away before we head to bed.

“Arch, thanks for being you.”

“Darling, I’m glad you’re still testing my limits.”

She kisses my shoulder before getting under the covers, and I slip in beside her. With her on my chest, everything seems right in the world. Through our troubles and strains, everything will always be okay.

It’s been a few weeks, and as I leave the bar with the managers, I think of talking to Sloane about quitting and finding something else for work. They’re all the fucking worst, and I don’t know how much longer I can work there.

I drive to the storage unit where I’ve been keeping her anniversary present.

Preserving the skulls was the hardest part after finding them. The delicate bird ones have held up, and they’ll be perfect for her bookshelves, along with the special limited editions I’ve ordered.

She deserves everything. Along with this, I’ve found a glory hole space that screens everyone coming in.

I think it’ll fit her needs perfectly. Visiting it on my own was awkward, but I wanted to make sure it was what she would want. There are pads and shelves for her to kneel onwhile she is fucked by someone else, and it seems like the perfect way to celebrate our fifteen years together.

Istruggle through the rest of the day. There’s been an uptick in need for me, and I’ve filled my plate too much. Girl-bossed too close to the sun again.

I arch my back in my chair and stretch out my shoulders.

Getting up to replenish my energy drink, I hear Archer’s car in the driveway. Looking out through the kitchen window, he’s resting his arms on the steering wheel, and it doesn’t seem like his day was much better.

I set the can on the counter and walk out to the front of the house.

“Arch, you okay?” His window is half down, and he leans against the wheel.

“Yup.”

He’s not, and although I’ve had a hard day, I think his has been even worse. I open the door and flick the switch to pushhis seat back before grabbing him by the throat and pushing him back so I can sit in his lap.

“Arch, what’s wrong?”

He slightly shakes his head, and I press harder. With my other hand, I sweep the hair off his forehead. Archer’s muscular arms circle me tightly, and his strength crushes me against his chest.

My hand necklace doesn’t seem very intimidating in this position, but I don’t think he needs that side of me tonight.

I wriggle out of his grasp so I can straddle him properly, sliding my legs around his back. Holding on to his firm jaw, I try to read what’s behind his eyes, but he won’t tell me.

Archer leans forward into my neck and clenches his arms around me. I stroke his dark hair and play with his necklace.

“Baby?”

“It’s been a fuck of a day, I’m sorry.”

“Wanna call it a Moose night?” It’s one of our code words, so we don’t have to talk about our feelings, but we both know the other doesn’t want to be in a scene or play.
