“Which is what?”
“You are mine,” His demonic voice booms.
“Not in any fucking lifetime!”
I strain my ears to try to hear any sign of his movement. He’s fucking smart for not wearing shoes or actual fucking clothing. If the bastard was in his suit, I could hear the rustling of fabric. Unfortunately, I cannot even hear him breathing. Then again, he probably works out a lot and this is just child’s play to him. Whereas my out of shape ass is literally dying.
“Did you know fear has a distinct scent?” His voice sounds further away. “Everyone’s slightly different but still recognizable.”
I slowly move along the wall. I try to just blend into the dark.
“Yours is intoxicating. Like the first spring rain mixed with burning wood.”
“Anyone ever tell you are fucking creepy?”
“Melinda did. Probably the reason she and her husband feared me.”
“Melinda is Gunner’s mom,” I ask, keeping crouched while walking along the wall.
“You’d be correct. Do you always hear voices?”
“What?”
“The ones you were talking to earlier. Raven and Ember?”
“I am not talking to you about this.”
“Answer Alley,” his voice comes from behind me. I jump up and run. His laugh fills the room like some insanecreature locked in Dracula’s basement. No wait- the mother fucker is Dracula and I’m the helpless insane creature locked in his basement.
So we’re fucked.
Just kill us now.
Unfortunately, I am not actually a cat, I don’t have night vision, so as expected I run straight into a wall. I fall backwards but I don’t land on the floor. No, I am caught by Baron.
“Now,” he says, picking me up.
“Put me down!”
“Then answer the fucking question,” He whispers, licking the shell of my ear. His ability to sound calm is beyond disturbing considering how tense his body is mixed with his punishing iron grip. I’m pretty sure the devil hid under a rock so he could take over.
“Put me down and I’ll tell you.”
He does and I crawl away from him trying to find another wall or the bed to hide under at this point.
“I’m waiting.”
“Ember and Raven are like the angel and devil on my shoulder. They have been around for a long time.”
“So, you live in a constant state of mania then?”
“Why do you think I am manic?”
“I know almost everything about you.”
“I’ll have to thank Gunner for that next time I see him,” I grumble still crawling trying to find the bed or even the door to get the fuck out of here.
“So you live in a constant state of mania?” Baron repeats.
